Hi,
I want to ask you 2 questions if it is ok for you.
In the set I have 2 products as seen below. One is the eyeglass case and the other one is the eyeglass strap. Eyeglass strap has 3 parts: a crochet cord, 2 rubber holders and 2 lobster clasps.
This is the set: https://ibb.co/JnzKxC8
This is tariff for the US: https://uscensus.prod.3ceonline.com/
The first question is: The tariff numbers I have found below. Are they right? What do you think?
Eyeglass case : 4202.32.0000
Eyeglass Crocheted Cord: 6805.30.0000
Eyeglass Holder ( Rubber ) : 9003.90.0000
Lobster Clasp ( Metal) : 8301.50.0000
The second question is: Should I write just one tariff number of "eyeglass cord" or 3 tariff numbers for each of the components: the crochet cord itself, the rubber holder and the metal lobster clasp?
Thanks
You can only have 1 tariff number per item.
In this case I should use 2 because this is a set and there are 2 products. One for case and one for strap. Right?
I would just state whatever tariff code the main constituent material is. In this case it's crochet fabric. From there select whatever sub-code the fabric comprises (wool, cotton, acrylic etc). Hope that helps!
That is the problem actually. You export a product. Let's say it is a small leather purse. In this case we should find the purse tarrif number with leather material but NOT just the material itself. The issue is here if I write the leather in this case it will not define the product. Material is important but you should define the product. In tarrif numbers you also give information about the material.
If you go to the gov website for tariff codes - there is a "get help" and an e-mail address to ask them what it should be
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/ask-hmrc-for-advice-on-classifying-your-goods
The OP is based in Turkey but good advice nonetheless!
The code you use should describe the final product. Use one code per product. I would use the code for the spectacle case as that is the main product.
Although many countries have signed up to the same classification system, only the first 6 digits are used worldwide and product specific decisions (the following digits) are particular to each country. You will need to check which codes are applicable for your country.
Hi,
That is what I will do not the material yess.
I just wanted to ask your something. Is it logical to create jewellery category for the existing store or is it logical to create as a new store? Our concept is crochet. This is a dilemma for me.
Thanks
@ValeryAccessory: Our lawyer told us that (unless you are selling a raw material such as fabric by the yard) the type of product is more important than what it is made of. Often a product will have sub-categories. So your eyeglass case would probably be "4202.32 Spectacle Case" with sub-category ".0000 With outer surface of sheeting of plastics or of textile materials".
Yes. That is the most logical approach. I will do that. However, There is also another question in my mind just for the sake of the discussion. Let's say that if I send additional "Rubber Eyeglass Holder" for free with the set like gold color ( attached one is has silver color ) then I have to add this tariff code because it is not attached to the cord anymore. It becomes kind of a raw material even if its part of the set. I just wonder.
@ValeryAccessory: Not legal advice, but we would use the same master tariff code under the presumption that it is an "accessory".
Logical. Not attached to the cord via the lobster then it becomes the accessory for the cord actually. That makes sense. Yes.
I just google HS code and do not get too deep just the basic concept of what it is, and that seems to work fine. So in this case I would do the Eyeglass case and call it a day thats all you will need don't over think this
I will add these two products by default for the set.
Eyeglass case : 4202.32.0000
Eyeglass Crocheted Cord: 6805.30.0000
However, if I add additional rubber holders as backup for free ( if I can find another color) I will add this below as well.
Eyeglass Holder ( Rubber ) : 9003.90.0000
@ValeryAccessory you are way overthinking it , its not the complete material content they are after. But so be it, not sure if you can add multiple codes on an Etsy Label,
you can't add multiple codes to a customs form, for a single item
so you can't add them to etsy,
you need to put on etsy, the one legal code, that customs requires
