Craft Style for a non craft

Why am I forced to choose a "craft style" when listing a serving utensil?!!! It's a soup ladle and none of the choices apply. Who decided that was necessary?

You must have listed it wrong. How did it end up in the craft supply category. Either it's handmade or vintage (more than 20+ years old). There is a "serving utensils" category.

Re: Craft Style for a non craft

Yes but in the serving utensil category there is a selection for ladle. When I selected ladle it was requiring me to choose a craft style. I went back in and entered serving utensils and it no longer required it, but it is still an erroneous attribute. If it is a serving utensil, which a ladle is, it should not be prompting the seller for a "craft style".

I see it under serving utensils not craft supplies.

Yes and if I only select serving utensils it will not ask for a craft style. If I select ladle IN serving utensils it forces me to choose a craft style. This is an error.

Re: Craft Style for a non craft

Etsy has recently changed the Creativity Standards and changed categories around.

Basic utensils are no longer allowed.

https://www.etsy.com/legal/creativity#sourced

"The following are examples of items that do not qualify as ‘sourced by a seller’:

  • Resold blank items that are ready to use without craft intervention, such as blank t-shirts, hats, or tumblers
  • Resold generic cooking tools or ingredients; chemical compounds; automotive/bicycle parts and repair tools; office, construction, gardening, cosmetic, or home DIY supplies
  • Generic resold items that may be used at a party, but either are not decor, or also have everyday uses, such as plain furniture, generic tableware, stage lights, speakers, costumes, party favours, and seasonal/festive decor not specific to a single gathering or celebration"

What I am talking about is not a "basic utensil" it is a serving utensil.

@PlatypusDream  the ladle is vintage so I'm pretty sure it's allowed. New ones would not be.

Re: Craft Style for a non craft

Vintage over 20 years old, allowed.  Handmade ladle allowed.  It is probably a glitch from when the craft categories were trimmed.  Apparently there is still one for "craft ladle" and using that term ladle is funneling it to supplies.

Thank you! This makes sense. How can we initiate a change?
