Hello all. I have a costumer who’s trying to purchase a product and wants to pay with a gift card. But he says he can’t because it wants my email address. I’m it sure what the issue is, i haven’t encountered it before and I’m a new seller so i don’t know much.
any ideas how to solve this?
thanks
Scam! Mark as spam and don’t reply.
He does not need your email address. Don’t reply and mark it as spam.
Spam the scam.
It's a SCAM. They ask for your email address. Once you give it to them, you magically get a fake email from "etsy support" asking for your financial information so they can RIP YOU OFF.
Do not engage. Mark it as spam.
Even if it was a real buyer, there is nothing you can do to "help" them; they have to contact etsy directly. BUT THIS IS A KNOWN SPAM TRICK.
Scam, Scam, Scam
Spam, Spam, Spam
Run, Run, Run
Etsy will never ask for your email address because they already have it. There are dozens of versions of this scam going around. Mark as spam and do not reply. If you reply, that will confirm your email is good and then they will likely sell it to other scammers and you will be inundated with scam emails.
Don't ever click a link in an email that says it is from Etsy. Instead go to the website the way you normally do and look for the same email in your Dashboard under Messages->From Etsy. If you click the links, it will go to a fake website that looks like the real one but isn't. Then they will try to steal your identity and/or financial information.
If you already clicked any of the links, run a virus scanner on your computer and go change your password EVERYWHERE you have one, especially if you use the same password on multiple sites.
This is a scam. Also, if you ever get a message that says it is from Etsy, check on Etsy to make sure the message is in your "From Etsy" folder in your messages. If not there, it is not from Etsy, it is a scam.
It's a scam . . . there is no reason for the buyer to get your e-mail address. Do not respond. . .ignore them,
It's not a legitimate buyer, it's someone trying to cheat you out of money.
Do not respond to them, mark the message as spam.
