Confirm order

Jump to solution

I recently received an email claiming to be an order confirmation from Etsy with the subject line "Order Confirmation #451200". The email requested that I confirm the order by clicking a button, and then it prompted me to provide sensitive information such as my bank details and a balance card amount, requiring at least 1,000 MYR to proceed. And i wonder if that's how etsy work? Im just being extra careful. Do we need to confirm order once customer placed their order?

It is a scam!

If there are no orders in your order section of your dashboard, it is always someone trying to scam you via messenger or email

SCAM. You never need to "confirm" an order, nor do you have to have a certain amount of money on a card, or the like.

Real messages from etsy will only be in the "from etsy" section of your inbox.

When you get an order, it all happens behind the scenes with no involvement on your part. You will see it under "orders" on your dashboard.

These are scammers trying to steal your financial information.

You have 1 sale showing in your shop.  Is that the sale you are being asked to confirm? or did that one happen before this?  Or after this?

You never have to confirm a "real" sale on Etsy, but the 1 sale that you have showing is a puzzle.

You also never have to confirm any banking details or have a certain amount of money in your account - ask yourself why do you need to have a certain amount of money in your account?  You aren't buying anything so you can have 0 in your account - it's the buyer that has to have money in their account.

That 1 sale showing means that you do have or have had a genuine sale in your shop at some point in time.

Might be a coincidence as there were 0 sales showing when I replied initially, so this sale came in the past 40 minutes

Unfinished shops are easy targets for scammers. Finish your shop. Return to this Forum and ask for a shop critique.
