What problem is he having?
What problem is he having? Could be a scam.
This sounds like the beginning of a scam. Did this person ask for your email address or suggest anything that might take the sale off Etsy?
Is there anything else about the situation that raises a red flag or 10? Such as the list here --
Solved: How to Spot a Scam - No a Buyer Doesn't Need Your ... - Welcome to the Etsy Community
This person gave me his email which I did communicate with him I told him I could put my painting on the eBay store which I actually did post last night after the sale on Etsy did not go through and he said he would rather not use eBay to purchase the painting that he wanted to keep it with Etsy for his Etsy credit score
This "buyer" may want to keep the sale on Etsy because of their generous Purchase Protection Program where they will refund a purchase & let the buyer keep your item too. You have very high priced items for sale, so you may want to review that & proceed very carefully with sales.
You can't direct sales off of Etsy.
It is Fee Avoidance, and against the Terms of Use.
there is no "etsy credit score."
Etsy credit score? What's that?
To repeat what I wrote in answer to your other post - ''Sellers have no idea what is shown on a buyer's credit card and we don't know their address until the order has gone through. Whatever this ''buyer'' showed or told you could be faked.''
Strange that they want the most expensive item in your shop, too.
I am having the same issue
You can't take sales off Etsy that were initiated on Etsy. You can get your account closed for that.
He is probably already banned on eBay for previous scams, which is likely why he doesn't want to go through them.
As far as I know, how much a buyer spends on Etsy has nothing to do with any kind of Quality Score. Do buyers even have Quality Scores? I don't think so.
You have no protection on Etsy for items that cost over $250, so I would proceed with caution.
If he is really having a problem with his payment method, he needs to deal with Etsy, not you. There is nothing you can do about it.
This really sounds like a scam of some kind to me. Maybe he is trying to use a stolen credit card or something like that and that may be why Etsy is declining his payment method. Etsy handles all financial matters, you are not involved in the collection of the payment. So only Etsy can do anything about it.
tell him you don't have anything to do with the payments. that all goes through etsy and he should contact etsy. sounds pretty much like a scam of some kind.
@TopHatCollectibles - This may be a SCAM.
If this buyer has requested your personal/business email remain on guard. I would suggest not clicking on any links if the buyer should send you any.
If the buyer has advised you that Etsy said they need your email, this is definitely Spam, a Scam.
Definitely DO NOT provide this buyer, or anyone else, any of your banking information. This is not needed to complete a sale.
If the buyer insists that they've paid for the item but you have no order on your dashboard, or continues to say they are having problems paying, refer them to Etsy. Shop owners are never involved in the buying process and Etsy will not share a buyer's financial information with shops.

As a new seller on Etsy, please understand there are several scams running amok on Etsy ... I do hope this is not one of them! It is HIGHLY advised to keep all communication with buyers via Etsy Convo and never click on any links, QR codes, or photos, and never send anyone your email address or banking info! Etsy already has all the info they need for your shop and will never ask you for it. If your buyer is having payment issues, they will need to contact their bank &/or Etsy directly ... it is not something you can fix for them. Wishing you best of luck with your new Etsy shop. By the way ... the word "tidal" in your painting description should be changed to TITLE.
New shop with no sales. * sigh *
Most likely a scam.
Tell the Buyer to come here to the Forums and we'll chat with him! ; )
The shop isn't new, just hasn't had any sales. Some items are listed March 2023.
They stated in another thread that everything seems legit to them. They have no way of knowing what an order should look like.
The scammers prey on Sellers like this.
It's funny how many sellers being scammed come to the forum and argue against the forum telling them the truth. I wish them all luck.
I know - they are so happy and desperate for that first sale.

@PillowDetails - sounds familiar
@UppNorthEh election-related?
Yep!
@TopHatCollectibles if the Buyer is having issues, send them right to Etsy Support -

There is nothing you can - or SHOULD do.
@TopHatCollectibles Just an FYI ... orders more than $250 (including shipping & tax) do NOT have any Etsy seller protection! Should anything go wrong with sale of these high priced items, buyers can file a case with Etsy, and buyers WILL be completely reimbursed out of your pocket (Etsy will charge your CC on file)!
Seller also has no policies in place, which makes it even riskier.
