Character error limit when responding to case

I've had a case opened against me which I am trying to respond to. When I try to submit my comment to the case I keep getting the error: "Sorry, your comment was too long. Please limit your comment to 1,250 characters." My comment is only 1,195 characters long, so under the limit stated.

I really need to be able to respond to the case. Does anyone know how I can get a comment submitted to the case?

Perhaps a silly question, but did you include spaces in your count?

I eventually managed to get the message to go through when I reduced the message to 1,128 characters. Shorter than the error message stated.

I am having the same issue. 1196 characters including spaces.
