A customer just alerted us to changes.

Etsy AI has made changes to the ordering process that we did not make ourselves

Our text is in German, Google Translate has a problem with this language to translate it.

We have "ich" which means My in the letter selection for German buyers instead of the letter I.

In the selection Menu Buchtabe meant letters and has now been changed to bookcase.

Only if you go back to the original language it is indicated correctly

I am sick to death of the constant changes.

I get the idea that they do not understand what they are doing and are only making the problems worse with AI.

Change the photo size to a small poster size and the customer looks 90% on a mobile phone and also orders this way.

We have refused to do this for a very long time but now you are being pushed aside by AI if the size is not right.

Etsy has not thought about this properly in a climate-oriented way.

Our bestseller has until recently had a size of 1000x1500 Pic with 16000 sales and now these photos are not good enough.

We have now increased this to 2000x3000 Pic and the data volume is now 4 to 5 times as large that has to be sent every time it is clicked,

Google already consumes 3.3% of all electricity in the Netherlands a very small country.

With AI this is now becoming much worse, it is assumed that this will be 16% of the total electricity consumption in the US around 2030.

If now 8,000,000 sellers have all their photos in the now desired format of Etsy.

Then I think that the Surfer who now uses Etsy needs much more storage.

This means more costs so I think that it will not be long before the commission that we pay also goes up again.

All complaints from sellers that their items have been removed by bots because they determine that the photos are stolen which is 99% of the

time not true we as a seller have to prove that this is not the case.

Etsy has clearly developed its own legal system.

Legally I think this is different the guilt must first be proven.

Please Etsy puts this back in the hands of employees, instead of AI and Bots.

Altough I don't think this will happen if Etsy has already laid off almost 11% of its employees in 2023.

It is not Etsy AI.  It is the Microsoft translator used by Etsy that makes choices.  It is not perfect.

I see things in English and is quite understandable to me.

As to photos, yes Etsy changes the photo size requirement as the Internet changes.   

I'm not sure what you are saying about the photos and removal of listings.  This is the way it works, the BOT finds the photo on another site like Shein or Temu.  It is programmed to then takedown the listing as being someing resold and not handmade.  It is up to the seller to find their photos and to issue DMCA notices to those sites and then provide Etsy with the information.  It is the seller that needs to protect their business.  YEs sellers who are handmaking get caught up but the BOT program has found thousands of resellers which Etsy removes.  That's the plus.  THe minus is innocent sellers being caught in the middle. 

I'm not sure about your storage issue.  That varies across the board with diferent systems and is not just an Etsy issue.  It also involves ISPs, what legally can and cannot be shown, etc.

The way of the business world is AI.  That is not going away.  Like anything in its infancy it needs time to grow.

As to staff, all businesses are streamlining, reducing staff.  It's not just an Etsy issue.  It's all over and will continue.

Etsy also needs these without it is not possible these shops bring in a very high turnover.

Explain to me how is it possible if one of the best shops at Etsy has sold more than 3,100,000 articles in 10 years with 4 employees of which only the owner makes this article the others have a different function.

That is about 800 to 1000 orders per day and what they sell is that impossible with 4 people.

These shops are very important to Etsy.

Many articles from these shops are also listed as Etsy's choice.

What I meant by the photo size is that this requires much more space on the surfers that Etsy uses than smaller photos.

All these photos are sent via Google all over the world continuously.

The bigger the more energy it takes to send them to the person who clicked on the article.

We now live in a world where we must take better care of our energy supplies. That is what I meant by storage.

Ich bin ganz bei dir. Hallo Nachbar grüße aus Deutschland. Du hast einen tollen Shop. Zum Thema Fotogröße hoffe ich  das die Leute auch schön alle das jpg. Format nehmen damit sich das Servervolumen  noch mehr  künstlicher aufbläht. Und ja ich kann mir auch gut vorstellen das Etsy das nachher noch als Begründung zur Gebührenerhöhung anführen wird. Ich bastel gerade an meinem E bay Account.

Du hast auch einen schönen Shop.

Früher haben wir bei Ebay verkauft und vor etwa 10 Jahren damit aufgehört, wo mittlerweile viele chinesische Verkäufer aktiv sind, die den Markt ruinieren.

Ich denke, wir müssen lernen, damit zu leben.

Dies wird auch bei Etsy geschehen.

In some cases Etsy bot has taken down things that it saw on blogs or people's own websites.  

When people say that a photo must now be square change it right now, well I had about 1000 to change because not all mine have 10 photos.  Large stores had more.  On the app Etsy tried changing the crop on photos again.  I think they should stick to one format.

It is easy to change things on paper.

What this means for us as Etsy sellers is not thought about or they do not care.

Etsy tries in all sorts of ways to turn the page again.

It is clear what is happening to Etsy on the stock market, lost 82% of its highest point in the last 3 years.

Etsy is now below 50$  the road to an even lower point is open.

If I read the articles about the stock market news, this will not really change in the coming year.
