Hi,
Has anyone of you had the experienc eof being unable to respond to a message?
I got a message from a person just saying Hello and then with a photo & the beginning few words of one of my products. I did not click on that (not sure if it was a screen shot photo or link). I type in "Hi" trying to respond but Etsy showed a red message saying that "Could not send message. If this keeps happening, contact Etsy support."
I have to say, I could respond to another seller through the app when I purchase something just after that. So I guess the app has no issue on my side.
Every seller knows how difficult to have a life support in Etsy. I tried to go Etsy support and i found myself circling around.
I am not sure whether that person is a real customer trying to ask something or Etsy detacted that as possible scam.
Appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

It’s likely a scam. There have been a lot of scam messages sent to mostly new sellers. Send the message to spam and do not reply. Here’s a good reading list to help protect your account:

It is a scam to get financial information.
When this happens (unable to reply to only a specific message) it is because Etsy has already detected the scammer and has closed/deleted that account. Just send it to your spam folder.

Re: Cannot respond to a message
So I am a new to Etsy and I just received a message saying they are from the "ETSY Security Technology Group" to verify my identity, I am not sure if this is real because It will not let me respond to the message. I do not think it is valid since I cannot respond to it.
The message reads:
Dear Spastic,
We are pleased to welcome you to the ETSY community. We at ETSY are committed to ensuring security and trust on our platform. Recently, we have noticed an increase in fraudulent activity. To protect the interests of buyers and honest sellers, we have introduced a mandatory identity verification process for new members of our trading platform.
How can I verify my identity?
Simply answer "Yes" to this message if you are ready to start the verification process now, or "No" if you cannot complete it at this time.
Don't worry, the process only takes about 5 minutes. Afterwards, you can continue your trading activities on ETSY without any restrictions.
Important: If you do not complete the verification process within 24 hours, your account will be temporarily restricted. Possible restrictions include reducing the visibility of your store in search results and labeling you as an "unverified user" on your store page.
If you have any questions or need support, you can contact us here. To make it easier to process your request, please formulate your questions as follows: "Question: [content of your question]".
Yours sincerely,
ETSY Security Technology Group

Re: Cannot respond to a message
@SpazzyShack that's a new one but definitely a scam. Whilst Etsy does ask you for documents to confirm your identity, it's all done through the shop manager legal page. You'll probably get a direct email regarding this, not via Etsy messages which can be used by any user. Check the 'from Etsy' folder.
Also, as a side note, please research the connotations of your user/shop name in other countries such as the UK where it is considered highly offensive.
