Cannot renew listings/shop put into vacation mode unnecessarily

This morning, I tried to renew a listing, and found that Etsy has put my shop into vacation mode. IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE IN VACATION MODE! I am completely capable of managing my orders, and I have Valentine's advertising going currently. I am not able to turn the vacation mode off by myself. What do I do?

@exquisitelapel: The 'fulfilling my current orders' message is Etsy's attempt at not providing the general public with the real reason they put your shop in vacation mode - although they could conceivably think you have too many unshipped orders. Presuming that it was not just a glitch, based on other posts in this forum Etsy often takes this action when they have been unable to verify or re-verify ownership and financial information. You should check to see if there is any additional information on your dashboard or in your eMail (including spam / junk folders).

Look for an email from Etsy.  It may have to do with ID verification as required in the US for the Inform act or it might be an error.

Thanks, it is indeed an ID verification issue. I have tried about ten times to upload a photo of my drivers license, and I can't get it to work properly. Who should I alert?

It’s an utter nightmare, they’ve done the same to my shop and i can’t seem to get anyone to help!

So, they kept asking me for my id.  It turned out that they wanted my ID AND a new phone number.  That was over six months ago now, so that bug might have been fixed.

(Make sure your address matches the bank account address as well.)

I'm not an expert, but I did say some naughty words when updating my id.

They put my shop in vacation today right after I got an order. The email said

"Congratulations on your successful sale on Etsy! As you are now selling regularly, Etsy is required to verify seller identity to enable the continued use of Etsy Payments, and we were unable to verify your identity with the document you provided at onboarding."

I'm like, dude I've been selling since 2008 with over 4,000 orders, what are you talking about? So when you said you've tried uploading your id 10 times, does it give you an error? When I tried uploading through the app it didn't really say anything but when I did it on my desktop in the browser, it gave me a giant check mark and a thank you keep an eye on your email. As of right now, about 4 hours later, I'm still in vacation mode and my dashboard still has the yellow banner at the top and the Legal and tax info section is still saying in red text, "action required," under the your documents. So you may have succeeded in uploading your id, it just hasn't been checked yet?

Just like you, I have got the order of high amount and etsy put my shop on the vacation mode with the same message as yours. I have uploaded the ID about 7 hours ago and my shop is still on vacation mode.

UPDATE * for me at any rate (I hope more of you get some success...) after an incredibly stressful night....my shop is finally open again. The whole thing is a real stressful nightmare for sellers, it left me and many others feeling very helpless as trying to get hold of anyone is near impossible. I found the uploading panel very glitchy to say the least. If it helps anyone else...I found that it is essential to first pick the country from the drop down menu under the box....then the 'type' of document you are submitting....then submit it in the box...the Submit button should turn active from Grey to Black (even though it says you can submit up to 7, I tried and found they just sort of 'vanished' so I wasn't actually sure if they had gone through or not). At first, I was missing just one step and finding the submit button stayed grey.  I think the ETSY slogan of 'keeping commerce human' needs reviewing to reflect current experience. At roots level, it needs changing to make it more human. Like many long term shops (for me, 16 years and I know there are many of us) along with newer shops, this is our livelihood and there must be a better way of verifying our documentation without us all having to lose valuable income!? We are all small businesses and putting our shops in vacation mode against our will really reinforces the feeling of helplessness. I, like many others, do have a Shopify stand alone store, but Etsy is still a valuable part of my income. I wish everyone lots of luck and hope your shops get opened again very soon! xx

Thanks for all the replies. I finally figured out how to upload my drivers license. It's just not explained very clearly. Luckily, I finally got it to work. for all who are uploading a photo by using a library photo or taking a photo then and there: once you have the photo, there should only be ONE document showing below....delete all others, then click submit. You will not see a photo of your drivers license in the little window.
