Dear friends,
I have a lot of troubles connecting to Etsy because of this security measure reCAPTCHA. Now I connected with another computer, but cannot work on orders from this other computer.... reCAPTCHA just repeats endlessly and I still cannot connect!
Any clues?
Thanks so much!
Try another browser.
Sorry, but what is that??
Like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge..whatever you are using..try something different. I have issues with recaptcha with Chrome. People have reported Firefox issues too but I don't think it was recaptcha .
That's happened to me.
I reboot. I reset my router/wifi equipment.
I make sure my browser(s) are up to date.
Eventually the reCAPTCHA lets me in - sometimes I think if I had just waited an hour or so it would have sorted itself out.
Very maddening though. Good luck.
I'm on Firefox and the problem has just increased over time, and now today I cannot connect to Etsy at all
Clean out cache. Firefox doesn't work well with Etsy at times.
Try another browser.
But chances are you will need to shut down and reopen if it is caught in a loop.
I don't know what Reboot means
@LatitudeLaineShop: "I don't know what Reboot means" In the context of the post, it means turning your device off and then back on. If you are on a Windows machine, do a <restart> NOT a <shut down> if you want to clean out memory, cache, etc.
I always use the same device and browser (desktop computer, Chrome, Windows 10). For a while there, I was getting the Captcha quite often. Then it went away and I would get the Red Banner, "An error has occurred" upon Signing In. When that happened, I would do a Refresh (F5) and I would be in. Or I would do a "Hard Refresh" (Ctrl F5, which I never heard of until @BagmakerSupply posted about in various Threads). Eventually the Error Banner went away and I Signed In with no problem. Then the Captcha came back a few times (lately I haven't had any issues at all, knock on wood).
Once or twice a day I clear cache/cookies in my browser. Sometimes when I check this, it will update to the next level of my browser (Chrome). And every now and then I will unplug the modem for approx. 5 min., then plug it back in. There are times when I will shut my computer down at night (clicking the circle at the bottom left of screen, either to "Shut Down" or "Restart"). If Windows has any Updates, there will be a yellow dot on top of the circle. Then depending on what I've selected, it will Update and Shut Down for the night, or Update and Restart.
But yeah, I was getting irritated at the Captcha (which I often messed up on, even with a large monitor), or that red banner error message.
Cleaning out cache and cookies so often is suspcious now to many devices. Some sites are requiring a log in with authentication.
Your address is not always the same. Your ISP can change locations and that can start the recaptcha, I have had that and have had the same ISP for years, However when my ISP starts from another of their locations I get the recaptcha.
This has nothing to do with the modem being turned on and off. Google and Etsy work off of MAC addresses.
As businesses add more verification and higher security then you may be having more issues if you have an older computer that cannot cope with the changes. This can lead to more faults be seen when there really isn't one.
Check your security to see what they are now asking for and if you need to update it.
@ArtDollsbyJD Under Security, my address is always the same. I just checked again a short while ago (I'll go back and re-check).
ETA: Yes, I just rechecked. Same city, state and IP provider.
This can be true. I get emails from Etsy all the time asking if I have signed in from XXX browser.
@ChillwolfArt@LatitudeLaineShop : If you have a dynamic IP address, Google may be flagging the current one as suspicious, thus the repeated reCaptcha. This is why sometimes turning your modem on and off works as it often gives you a new IP address.
Thanks; I always have the same IP address though. Where it shows all of my Sign Ins, it's always the same.
_______
ETA: (Sorry, I should explain where to find your Sign Ins, for anyone who isn't aware). Mousing over your Avatar (top Right on Etsy), click Account > Security. This will show all of the dates you signed in & out. Along with the browser and ISP Address used.
I get the weird things from Etsy every time I need to clear my history/cookies. I do it every day now just to avoid the mess.
I am having the same problem …Over and Over agai n. Tired of playing that Captcha game.
Thanks a lot everyone. Now I was able to log in again, after having waited and "switched off" the Etsy page on the upper right cross.
It seems the issue was that I often do the cleaning out of cache and cookies....
It is really so nice to be able to get help like this!
Have a nice evening!
I have been having the same problems and its been happening for over a week now and its really frustrating! I have tried every thing, restarting, clearing cookies/history and nothing works. I have to log in to the forums first and then log in to my shop and that seems to work, although I still have to click on the pictures and prove I am not a robot but its easier to get in and does not keep going in a loop. I am on firefox.
Chrome works better than Firefox on solving these kinds of problems. I have 4 browsers on my computer, and one of my etsy stores is on one, and the other store is on another. You just have to play around opening on another browser when one doesn't work. Firefox, does seem to have more problems.
YeoldAtticshoppe: I know this is so frustrating! Maybe try to not clear cookies/history after the next time you manage to log in. And otherwise the trick that worked for me was this: when you're on the Etsy start page - try to click on the X in the right upper corner. The Etsy page will dissapear, then google the Etsy start page again and log in. Good luck!
This has been happening ALOT lately, and it is so frustrating. It keeps on going on asking for more and more evidence, Says I'm not getting all the photos, etc. I wish they would stop it after one or two pics!
This has been going on since last May for me.
Tons of others in forums too.
I just hit the orange ETSY in the top left corner & I get right in after signing in & error message & captcha.
Some people just refresh & get in.
Never ever gotten any help from tech support reporting it.
Try it & see if it works.
It started happening to me over the last month. No help from tech support, either. They should do away with captcha and use two factor authentication. I shouldn't need to clear cache and cookies on a daily basis or even change browsers. It just needs to be fixed.
Etsy …MUST GET THIS SORTED …ITS DRIVING EVERYONE CRAZY ..!
