Canadapost sent an email out that they are accepting new shipments today (19th), but the Etsy shipping labels are still not available. Why are we not getting a firm date from Etsy? I tried to create a shipment VIA the Canadapost website and the quote was $5 more. I've tried to have customer service call me since yesterday, but an error message keeps coming up. Is anyone else getting these error messages?
fyi i just checked on 2 orders stuck in the system just after the strike started going back east both have been delivered
International mail is being accelerated by Canada post starting Monday December 23rd
oops accepted
its accepted now
Probably because it's going to take weeks for them to catch up with the current mail. Etsy is on the hook for refunds if an item is late. They're not going to let sellers knowingly ship items that will take such a long unknown length of time.
I completely understand what you're saying, but I brought items to the post office yesterday and they have already moved. I don't know if the backlogs are as extreme as they are saying the media. There were no line ups at my post office.
It is very possible and most likely that the smaller postal outlets are not the source of the backlogs, but rather the sortation facilities to where all these packages get sent to be sorted & processed for their transit to their destination...
Canada post say expect backlog problems well into the new year
the media are reporting what Canada post are saying
@ThriftyOwlVintage is in Sarnia. Not everyone lives along the border near a major trade bridge.
And there is no mention of how far the parcel has moved. From drop location to main CP depot? to USPS Port Huron? (an 18 minute car ride from downtown Sarnia)
Well, no line ups at the post office doesn't mean that there is no backlog. Backlogs are in places where you can't normally see, ie. in their facilities where the staff are working. So mentioning no line up at post offices doesn't meaning anything.
Yes, exactly! I've mailed other parcels, I've got the mail delivered and ETsy still has NOT unfrozen my labels. I am so mad. Who the hell are they freeze our businesses???
Delivengo, which is part of La Poste, here in France sent me an email today (Friday), saying they will resume sale of Canada shipping labels on December 24th. They go on to say that post already waiting in the system during the strike will be prioritised and therefore to expect lengthy delays with new post while things are sorted out. My packages sent shortly before the strike haven't moved yet
I asked this question the other day and I got wait a month from other due to backlog and was also told what's my rush..
I sent a parcel yesterday morning with Canada Post and it is out for delivery today .. Mailed from Toronto at 9:18am yesterday and right now it says out for delivery in Pickering!
They are getting the parcels out and delivered fast.
The one I had beheld over the strike was delivered yesterday..
I had to buy my labels online due to Etsy not allowing us to purchase
Thanks! I appreciate this! Have a great upcoming holiday!
I think CP is overstressing the backlog to deter extra shipping (and complaining!) until the new year. The bulk of holiday shopping/shipping is done so they'll work through it at a good pace. Everything is moving here and my seller friends have resumed with Expedited Lite on eBay where you can buy CP labels with no issues (which btw is only $7.39 for under 200 grams there).
Right now, it's the couriers who are most under the gun and struggling but they sure have stepped up to the plate during this mess of a strike.
etsy likes to micromanage whenever they possibly can.
they can micromanage this tiny aspect of shipping so that's what they are going to do..
All my packages are moving. Ones held during the strike have mostly been delivered. I shipped some new orders (After opening my shop back up when the strike ended) on monday. They are already in the US and transferred to USPS (Saturday)
Everything seems to be working just fine with Canada Post.
Sorry I meant Tuesday (When they reopened) Dropped off at my local Canada Post. For reference i'm in Toronto.
I just finished a chat on Etsy about not being able to print labels to ship to Canada. They said that I should use another service until they get updated???!!! 🥺
There may be backlogs, but a package that got stuck Nov 14th was delivered on Wednesday. Meanwhile 3 packages I'm waiting for that went out Dec 3rd with ICS Courier...one was 'out for delivery' since Dec 4th, and the 2 others shipped on same day have been stuck at a sort facility for 9 days now. I'd say Canada Post is on the ball, the Courier is NOT
Just a few things to think about....
1) we all want what is best for our sellers. As they are our bread-and-butter.
2) if we, as sellers, purchase our shipping labels through Etsy, both our customers and ourselves are protected with etsy's insurance.
3) as sellers, we don't get paid until our items ship.
4) once Etsy allows us to start processing our labels, which for the most part we purchase at a discounted price, the system will become completely jammed... tens of thousands of sellers, with dozens of packages each; it will be mayhem.
2) if we, as sellers, purchase our shipping labels through Etsy, both our customers and ourselves are protected with etsy's insurance.
Etsy doesn't provide insurance, If you mean seller protection, that is for all sellers, not just the 4 countries that can but etsy labels.
3) as sellers, we don't get paid until our items ship.
not true, sellers can get paid the day after the order (unless we are on reserve or hold)
Etsy's not helping by disabling the shipping labels, it won't make the packages arrive any faster to prevent them from getting into the shipping queue, it's holding up arrival and customer experience even further
etsy expects you to ship on time with a different shipper
Why is eBay allowing CP labels and not Etsy? It's obviously because of that guarantee and nothing else. eBay also gives the backlog warning issued by CP but is still allowing for domestic shipping labels as should Etsy since it's the only way for sellers to get those lower rates.
