Can Etsy please make an option for customers to shut off review reminders? Someone left a review that mentioned she didn't like leaving reviews. This is a real issue for some people.
I agree that Etsy should end the "Review, Favorites and Cart" madness. We are adults and we don't enjoy being harassed while shopping here or anywhere else for that matter. In my opinion, it is the most disliked experience of Etsy.
As @FallenAngelBrass said, I also the use "Save For Later" feature to stop the insanity.

Review reminders and other pesky pop ups are very very annoying. The discerning Etsy customer visits the site for a specific reason, knowing exactly what they want, and when hassled can be extremely annoyed. So annoyed, in fact, that they may leave Etsy and look elsewhere, or knock a star off because they feel pressured. (Also, off topic I know, but when I enter a search, for example a red dress, I want to see a red dress not a blue one or a red coat.)
I agree 100%.
I'm totally with you on this!
Everytime I order from my fellow Etsy sellers, I get all these annoying reminders telling me me " my order has been shipped", "my order is on the way", my order has been delivered." I don't want or need to know all that.
And then the annoying review reminders. If a person has a not so great review to give, or even a good one, I rather they not give it at all than to be pestered into a corner!
I've started unfavoriting things because of that latest pop up. Its the worst. along with the review notifications and now the moved favorites/shops notifications. JUST LEAVE IT ALONE ETSY
Are you sure that review is because Etsy goaded them into leaving it and not because they couldn't just leave stars and had to write 5 words? To me it sounds like the latter.
She said. I don't like leaving reviews. There should be a way for the customer to be able to shut them off if they irritate them.
I don't like leaving reviews is the 5 word minimum for a review.
I have no problem leaving the stars, but mostly have no desire to write 5 words and have noticed that people who object to having to comment lots of times leave exactly 5 words to express their displeasure.
I totally agree! I just had a customer leave me a 3 star review because she said there was no other way to stop getting the pop up reminder but to leave a review.
Then Etsy send me a thing about "how to get better reviews from customers."
I personally hate the constant reminder. I say send maybe one reminder a week after the customer receives their order. Because, the low star rating hurts us more than it hurts Etsy.
@WJewelsCreations: By Etsy's own rules, that review might be eligible for removal if it is "... only about things outside the seller’s control, such as a shipping carrier (mentioned by name), Etsy, or a third party" https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015808588-What-to-Do-if-You-Receive-a-Negative-Review?seg...
Personally, I find being badgered for a review extremely annoying.
When I'm exceptionally delighted by a superb creation or incredible service, I'll likely post a review. The same goes - but in the negative, of course - it the item is a forgery or fraud or takes a month too long to arrive.
Nothing else is worth my time reviewing. Supplies and mass-produced items that may be just fine, but rather "meh" go uncommented.
FWIW, it's not just Etsy that badgers. Amazon has repeatedly asked me to review a furnace thermostat. Yep, it works. Can't say it motivates me to heap praise on anyone anywhere.
I find the pop up reminding me to add to my cart an item I favorited, and doing it over and over again until the only way I can get it to stop it to unfavorite the item. It's totally irritating and I fear that it will be so to my potential customers as well. : ((
Yes!
And the one prompting us to update the Etsy app...sigh.
same! 100% I literally cleared out all the items I favorited because all day long as I am working I am being badgered half to death. I would imagine it creates lots of issues.
There needs to be an option to turn off the constant nagging. If we did that as sellers Etsy would call it spamming and suspend our privileges. When Etsy does it just makes buyers uncomfortable and they take it out on sellers in their reviews, or worse still just stop shopping here.
This is a prime example of "do as I say, not as I do."
I had a customer leave me a 1 star review recently. Her last order, for the same item, was a 5. So I wrote to her and asked her what happened with this order and then, due to what she wrote in her review, said 'I sure hope you don't think I was pinging you for a review! I personally hate that, myself...that was Etsy. I also hope you don't hold me accountable for what they did.'
she changed the review to a 5 star, like her last one. So yep, it is upsetting people. That is never a good thing.
I had a buyer specifically say that she loved the product but hated that I kept asking her for a review, she left a one star. I told her it wasn't me, it was Etsy. She never responded but when I contacted Etsy about it they removed the review.
They need for customers to shut off ALL pop ups! Their pop ups have made me empty my cart, unfavorite items, and post pone leaving a review until I feel like leaving one! Honestly Etsy, no wonder your stock is tanking. I worked in retail for a LOT of years and I know what good customer service is. You’re not providing it to our customers or to us!
Losing a star seller for one 4 star review, is it right?
@Girlfriendnecklace Unfortunately, the calculation is correct
You received 2 Reviews for the period March-May for the June 01 Badge
9 (Stars) / 2 (Review)s = 4.5 (Average)
To many places drive people crazy for reviews. Maybe we can jump on the tip train and ask every customer for a tip at the end of the transaction.
Next Etsy will start asking customers if they want to leave a tip!
Is there any way we can share our displeasure with this both as sellers and as buyers? This should really stop now.
You can move carted items to "Save for Later" and the pop-ups will stop.
Etsy never listens to sellers about anything. Etsy is very pushy with customers and sellers. Etsy wants their money and they micro manage everything, except the rule breaker shops. Looks like As Seen on TV, walmart and Temu around here. If Etsy put the effort into cleaning up this place like they do hounding everyone about everything, this would be a nice place.
