Calculated shipping coming out too high?

Jump to solution

Does this sound right? 1lb 14oz, 15” x 10”x 5” = $14.61 for usps parcel select ground, Portland to Chicago. Is this a glitch, or a rate hike? (It came out lower on eBay).

If you're in the listing mode, change the 15 to 14 or 13 and see if it drops by 4.00. Something about the available box size may default to the new long box fee thing.

15x10x5 is under over length but calculated shipping may have PUT it in a box with a measurement over 22" ( where the $4 fee kicks in) You can probably ship it in a 15x10x5 fine..the package preferences is just sticking it in a too large package. @Belleabbatoir Add a 16x11x6 box in your preferences and make sure to use item size not box size in the listing shipping details..

That sounds a bit high BUT rates went up Oct 1. Today on PirateShip I had a 12x12x9 5 pound 15oz that was cheaper to send TN to TX Priority than Parcel. Check Priority..I think even Etsy labels are keeping some Priority at old prices?

@Hertfordweaver bingo! I switched it to 10x10x10 and it dropped. Now I’ll just have to repack it.
