Has anyone else recently had this issue when you go to download your CSV files for 2024 (orders) for each month... when clicking download it tells me Etsy is sending me an email. I go to email and click the link provided in said email, and it opens a screen with sales info BUT it's all combined together in one long run-on sentence... not the nice spreadsheet format it always used to be! What's happening here? Why am I being sent an email and why not an instant download of the spreadsheet?

The Orders CSV is not downloading nor an I receiving an emai with a link. Last week I was receiving the email (inconvenient and time wasting, but at least I had access to data I need) but this week nothing happens and the selected file type and date range just "disappears". This is ot a Browser or Excel issue
I just tested again and this time it worked, sort of.
I got an email, with the orange "download now" button and that opened a browser window that downloaded the csv file. I could open the file in OpenOffice.
There was no ability to verify that the strange link url was safe. It was not an Etsy.com url, it was storage.googleapis.com and then lots of gobbledygook.
This looks like a very dangerous security hole, allowing scammers posing as Etsy to insert malicious links into fake download emails.
I really don't like it.

I am not even getting that far!
Shop Data / Shop Settings / Reviews all download in Firefox, Edge and Chrome
But Orders > dropdown Nothing!!
I opened a Chat session to report it and now the Rep has left (I'll refer this to the Specialist Team YADA YADA YADA....) but did not close the Chat window.
Any idea about how to close the "open" Chat???? Obviously I cannot open a new "Chat" to request closing an open "Chat"!!!!
@FancyTogs I did a bit more "research" after your post here and I did find the email/s in my "Junk" folder. I think you are correct and that the URL is suspicious, and that is why my security settings sent the Etsy emails to "Junk".
Interestingly, the email in "Junk" contained a lot of code. Clicking on the "link" did nothing. I had to move the email from Junk to Inbox before I got the Orange Download button
This is how the URL starts. // storage.googleapis.com/etsy=shop-data-download
(even this is suspicious to Etsy as I could not post the actual link in Forums!!!!)
It is followed by at least 12 lines of alpha numeric "gibberish"
I sent Etsy an email because I was asking if their emails are legit, however they sent back an email talking about Etsy messages, so it wasn't relevant to this issue at all.
For the CSV files, I received an email for the "monthly summary" from a Payments Team (noreply@etsy...) and an email for the "orders or etsy payment sales" from a Payments.Team (Payments.Team@mail.etsy...) and I have never received emails from the second address before. Why is there a period between 'payments' and 'team'?
Usually when I need to download 'orders' and 'etsy payment sales' and 'direct deposit' spreadsheets, it downloads directly to my computer. I would get an email showing that it was ready, but I have never had to go through email downloads to get these spreadsheets.
Can you share which email you received the orange button download option? What was the name/header and the email address?
And if you have excel, does it just automatically convert to the excel spreadsheet?
Etsy needs to make some sort of dashboard announcement about this with the name of the link to expect.
I'm wondering what the reason is for switching to have a file emailed versus having downloaded? Wouldn't it be more secure for something to just be downloaded from the shop versus downloading from en email (in case someone loses access to their email account)? Shopify started doing the same thing last year. Some files I can download from the backend, but others send a link to download. It's irritating.
My email account also put these new "download" emails into junk mail. Luckily I check junk every day.
why did they change it? i downloaded it and now its missing orders. after years of using this monthly, the first time its ever been wrong.. ugh
This is what is happening to me. I am using safari. Was that the only fix to change to Chrome?? Seems weird that some people are still getting it the same way as 2024 and no email?
Does anyone have any idea if this is a glitch that will be fixed or are we going to have to always download data thru Chrome?
I do not think anyone knows because Etsy has not said anything.
For me, it is only the Orders CSV that is delivered by Email. All others download within Shop Manager.
After I received an email to donwload the CSV, I decided to try to download it in Google Chrome and not in Safari - and it worked great!
How long did it take for the CSV files to arrive in your email box?
It is not working for me at all, even though I had not problems the last few years.
I am on Safari. I have not downloaded Chrome to my new computer. In which way would that make a difference though, to use one browser over another?
@artinsilk: There appear to be two separate and distinct issues that are being lumped together in this thread. One is not receiving the eMail with the download instructions, the second is that apparently some browsers seem to not process the download file correctly.
Hi! I contacted Etsy and they are having a hiccup with this. If you contact them in the chat on Etsy they can download the files for you once they verify your account. Quick and easy.
Perceived the same problem. Using Apple only and refusing to install Chrome.
The download link was sent within seconds almost so that (ie waiting) seems no longer an issue. However the link only showed the storage.googleapis.com etc link with all the data as text only. As all other users with this issue perceived. No point in contacting Etsy as their help desk is busy since around January 2021 re-identifying itself as "less and less helpfuldesk". Calling has disappeared, then chat disappeared, response times are increasing and worst of all: solutions failing and whatever the issue is, always the Etsy seller's fault, never Etsy nor the buyer :-). Luckily there is still Apple itself. Probably the best helpdesk in the world explaining why it is the biggest company in the world. Call back within 10 seconds after request sent. Problem solved in about 5 minutes, no need for Google Chrome. Here it is: the downloaded data that opens as a scrambled page in Safari. Click it, then go to File -> Save As, then save the page to your device as Format: Page Source (should be first option given). Then : Open Apple Numbers, go to File, create New (spreadsheet), after creation, go back to File, now choose Open, then click the document you just saved and the Apple Magic happens: your Etsy data will load nicely in the spreadsheet as it did in the years before Etsy signed a contract with Google. Hope this is helpful for some.
Did the email with the "storage.googleapis.com etc link with all the data as text only" filter to your "Spam" inbox?
When this was happening to me I found that, if I tried ro open it from the "Spam" folder, all I got was lines of code
But when I moved the email to my Inbox, the body of the email changed and there was a red "Download" button. Opening the CSV from that button/ link worked.
I only do my reports quarterly and now have found this same issue. My current issue is I'm not even getting the email. This used to take mere seconds, I've been waiting for over 30mn and no email.
