Has anyone else recently had this issue when you go to download your CSV files for 2024 (orders) for each month... when clicking download it tells me Etsy is sending me an email. I go to email and click the link provided in said email, and it opens a screen with sales info BUT it's all combined together in one long run-on sentence... not the nice spreadsheet format it always used to be! What's happening here? Why am I being sent an email and why not an instant download of the spreadsheet?
-Rachel
okay, I figured it out! I use Google Chrome, and when the email is sent to me, I then right click on the "download now" button within the email. Choose "open with... chrome", then it downloads a file within the chrome browser, and it's in a spreadsheet format! Yay!
Have you somehow deleted Excel ? That's where I'd start. I've never had etsy try to email me a file..it is always a download.
Try a different browser
Another seller posted about this earlier. Do any of these solutions work for you?

I tried to test it 4 hours ago, with 2 CSV requests, and no emails so far.
Perhaps they are working on it, . . . or it is completely broken.

Did you check junk mail? When I did my bookkeeping last week, Etsy noted that emails would be sent. Usually it downloads a file right on Etsy & I only get an email for the statement to download. All of these new emails went into my junk mail, which never happens with Etsy emails... but the download link is coming from a different Etsy email than usual.
I have control of our email server, spam gets flagged but not deleted.
The emails were not delivered to our shop's email account.

What application is the file opening in?
You need to use an app that supports csv and displays as a spreadsheet (such as MS Excel, Apple Numbers, Google Sheets)
Opening using a browser or notepad will display all the text in one long string.
The file should download to your computer's downloads folder. If you are using a phone then I'm not sure how that works - you probably need to use a desktop/laptop.
They send it to your email in a JSON file. If you have apple, copy and paste the entire file to the Numbers app then copy and paste that to Excel or google docs.
For some reason they changed it from just downloading the CSV file to your computer, like they do with the Etsy Payments Sales, to sending it to your email in a JSON file.
Hello,
From a computer or laptop
Go to your SHOP MANAGER. Go to FINANCES. Go to MONTHLY STATEMENT.
Choose the month and the year. In the right side is written: Generate CSV. Click on it and in seconds it will invite you to download the CSV to your computer. You can download your CSV.
Repeat for every month you want to download.
You will receive an e-mail each time, but you can download directly from the FINANCES SECTION.
I just tried it out, and it works well.
I hope it works for you.
The problem is for the Orders CSVs on the Settings > Options > Download Data page.
The Finance page CSV is not affected.

@FancyTogs This DID work, but it genrates not an Orders CSV but basically a transaction CSV which should be the same amount. BUT I can't get it to total the column like I could the Orders CSV..not sure if because they used --- in zero total spaces but at least you have a paper "proof" you can print and manually total if you want without going through an email. I think I will just go by what the monthly statement tells me from now on.
To make sense of the Finances > Monthly Statements CSV you need to read this:
You will need to modify the formulae. The formulae won't work as written because Etsy have changed the transaction formats a few times since then, but the principle remains the same. There are also changes by country due to currency and date formats, and a variety of local taxes, plus the variations in information that individual sellers need.

I have never had issues over past issues with the file immediately downloading to my computer in spreadsheet format. I use Numbers on Mac and again, have never had this issue in the past.
I didn't either..15 years of no issue. Yesterday..they sent it to email to download. If you don't have it now, it may be a slow rollout.

Can you share which email address these downloads came from?
I don't think it is a browser issue. I think it is an "instant download" issue people are talking about. I am assuming, but I am on the same boat.
Hi.. how did you fix the problem? When I attempt to download report from laptop, it now sends an email to mail… how can I just download and print without extra steps. Thank you.
This is really irritating. I used to be able to instantly download CSV information-not have to wait for an email. I guess I haven't tried to look at CSV info in quite some time-when did this change?
This changed for me recently. I filed my Dec. 2024 sales taxes in Jan. before the 15th and it was as it has been for the last 15 years for me. Download window at top of the page. I tried to file my Jan. sales tax yesterday and download the CSV files and Sent to your email. It didn't even show in my downloads because until I download it in the email, it isn't a download. I am steamed about this.
3 shops. One had a garbage email I set up just to open the shop and had not accessed it in over 10 years or more so now I can't even access it as I have no idea what the password was because it was saved on my last computer. I need to go dig through old paperwork and see if I didn't "old people" write it down someplace or try to hook up my old computer and see if it was saved in settings there. I am unsure that old computer still even works.
Same here. Just noticed it. I sent them an email because I was asking if their emails are legit. I received an email for the "monthly summary" from a Payments Team (noreply@etsy...) and an email for the "orders or etsy payment sales" from a Payments.Team (Payments.Team@mail.etsy...) and I have never received emails from the second address before. Why is there a period between 'payments' and 'team'?
Usually when I need to download 'orders' and 'etsy payment sales' and 'direct deposit' spreadsheets, it downloads directly to my computer. I would get an email showing that it was ready, but I have never had to go through email downloads to get these spreadsheets. I won't click from these emails at the moment.
Add me to the list of Sellers for whom the "Orders" CSV (Settings > Options > Download Data > Orders) is not working as an instant "download".
This IS a real issue. There are NO workarounds. 5 Shops / Chrome / Edge / Firefox - not one Shop will instantly download, even when changing Browsers. It has nothing to do with Excel as I have the most up to date version of this.
The link to the "download" is being sent by email, and these emails are taking anything between 4 to 24 hours to generate.
I have no interest in using any other CSV as I have built an interactive spreadsheet based on the "Orders" CSV. This is a retrograde step as the last time I had to wait for a CSV was in 2016. Since that time ALL CSVs have been available instantly.
Etsy, something is broken. Please address this as a matter of urgency.
I have just realized that this post is still being "Liked" and I would like to update a post that was accurate 3 weeks ago but is no longer accurate.
The Orders CSV is , for some unknown reason, now coming from Payments.Team@mail.etsy.com and the "link" to the download in the body of the email starts with Download Now <https://storage.googleapis.com/etsy-shop-data-download-prod/user/155115804/EtsySoldOrders2025-2.csv?...
followed by 12 lines of "stuff"
These emails are being sent straight to Junk by my security settings.
I have to manually move the email from Junk to Inbok. The "Link" turns into an orange Radio Button "Download Now" and clicking on this opens the Excel Spreadsheet.
Hope this helps.
I am having the same issue and my CPA really needs this information so that he can do my P&L for the month of January. I have not even received the email and I requested it this morning. I am really hoping this is a glitch and will be fixed soon. We really need this report.
Works for me if I pull the file into spread sheet software. I dont use Microsoft packages but Excel should work. Personally I use Google sheets.
