Buyer leaving horrible threatening emails

Jump to solution

Hi there, Any one know how to report a buyer that won't stop contacting me with terrible emails. I'm not sure what her problem is as I gave her a full refund because she decided she didn't want the product. I've been very polite and wished her well and she's going on about how I'm a terrible person and hopes my business fails and then some. I first started deleting her messages as I didn't want this negativity to bring me down, but she keeps sending them.

I don't know who to reach out to at Etsy as there is no link for something like this.

Ughh.  That's awful.  I think all you can do is e mail etsy via the community and help section on the dashboard.  Don't delete any more of the messages for now, document them. You could eventually block her via her etsy profile, I think.

Blocking only stops them from seeing your favorites. It is a pretty useless feature.  Sorry this nested wrong.

If you can retrieve the deleted messages I would so they can be reviewed. You should be able to report her through the help desk.

Mark them as spam, do not respond to them anymore either. Then report to Etsy.

Tell her flat out not to contact you any more, move all her messages to Spam (don't delete, in case etsy needs to see them).

Then report her to etsy for harassment.  Not sure exactly how to do this, I think there are threads here on the Forums explaining how to do so.

The block function on etsy doesn't really block people from buying from you or contacting you so it's basically useless.

etsy needs to kick her off the platform asap.  Using sites to buy online is a privilege, not a right.  If she can't behave herself, she's got to go.

If you mark them as spam, the next ones will go straight to your spam folder, and you won't see them.

So mark as spam, don't respond, and report them to Etsy

Gather / save the e-mails you have, then tell her in no uncertain terms that you consider her behaviour to be harassment and to cease and desist from sending any more. Warn her that you will file a complaint with the Police if she continues and be prepared to follow up on that warning if she doesn't stop.

Man... Some people are just so miserable in their own lives that their only comfort is to try to make other people miserable. It’s pathetic.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s so unnecessary, especially since she got her money back. Did you require a return, or did she get to keep the product too?

As others have said, mark her messages or spam, don’t engage, and report her harassment to Etsy.

If she tries to order from you again (because people like this will do anything to feel like they have some power), immediately cancel and refund.

@SabrinaMariaDesigns  There's some people out there like that. You can move the messages to spam and then any new ones from her will automatically go to spam as well.

I recently did this and found it wasn't the case.  I did get new messages.

I think only replies to the same message thread will go into spam. If someone sends a NEW & separate message, it would need marked as spam again.

Go through the community/help/contact link on your dashboard  then seller and I think managing shop. There is a harassment link there somewhere.

The best advice, as given by other colleagues: spam those obnoxious messages, never look at them or reply again. Some people just need ignoring.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and replies. So kind of you all to take the time to answer my questions. I did move her to spam as suggested and finally was able to contact Etsy. They did say they will look into this, but I haven't even seen an email regarding my complaint, so who knows. I truly don't believe someone like this should be able to purchase on Etsy. If she's doing it to me, she has and will probably do it to someone else.

I just had this happen to me. I had to contact Etsy. I did exactly what you did, she purchased from me, it was a day or 2 away from getting delivered to her. She said I never sent it and said my products are terrible she wanted a full refund. I gave her a refund, and paid $18 out of pocket to have my product intercepted I was lucky to have if intercepted ((it is still currently on its way back to me). This lady got her full refund called me all sorts of names, I also canceled the sale as well. She lost her mind and said why did you cancel/intercept. She basically wanted a product for free. I wasn't having it. She gave me so much anxiety and stress, it's made me so uncomfortable. I contacted Etsy support and I too, still never heard anything back. She kept saying the ring she purchased is cotton candy material and is garbage. And said it reminded her of her dead grandmother and can't believe I canceled. She is unhinged. Also called me a liar because UPS doesn't intercept and she's not stupid. Ironically It was sent with USPS and she obviously doesn't pay any attention. The scary part is she's a "business woman" herself. To steal from a small business is one thing, to harass is another .. and to be extremely cruel is definitely ridiculous.
