Awhile back Etsy added their EDDs (estimated delivery dates) to our orders, just above the Ship to information, in this format:
Buyer expects delivery by: mmm dd-dd
I remember thinking that it would be helpful info in the case of customer enquiries or claims that the order did not arrive by the last EDD.
I currently have 2 orders in transit but only one has the EDD information. Is anyone else seeing the problem?
Are you looking at the tracking number?
Hi @NanaLetha
When I open the order, the Buyer expects delivery by: info is missing from above the Ship to details area.
The tracking number and scan events are showing correctly and I can click on the tracking number to access the Australia Post site tracking.
I only ship domestically and both orders were attached to shipping profiles that nominate Australia Post plus they both use the same Shipping service.
I checked my Shipping confirmation emails and both orders did show the EDD. But I delete my Etsy emails once a week, after the deposit is complete. I really need the info to be inside the order details.
None of my orders have "expected delivery by" anymore. I really liked to be able to see this. It was one of the few very helpful changes. So, of course it would go away...
Try searching for the individual order numbers, as mentioned by @BagmakerSupply below.
It's a handy workaround but it does not solve the problem. All of the info should be shown no matter how you access the order.
I also noticed that my orders in Delivered status were missing the EDD's. But they did appear when I searched the order numbers individually.
@DaysofYoreTreasures: This appears to be some sort of coding issue - if you search for the order number the popup window will include the expected delivery date.
Yes, that worked. Thank you!
I opened the order, copied the order no. then pasted it into the "Search your orders" bar at the top of the orders page.
EEDs have been missing from orders since at least February, based on what we know. There have already been two discussions on this issue, but Etsy has yet to take any action.
I strongly encourage everyone affected to report it to the Help Desk — the more reports they receive, the more likely they are to treat this as a serious problem.
I think this feature was one Etsy was never going to please everyone on. I believe it was a test, which may or may not mean it will stay, and generally means not all sellers see it during the test.
The thing is, when it began the forum threads about it tended to be from sellers who hated it because it wasn't exactly accurate by the shipper's and seller's estimates and they were concerned about kick-back from buyers whose items were delivered after Etsy's estimate, but still within the seller's and shipper's estimates.
Now it has been around a while (mind you I still don't see it in my shop) seller responses seem to be going the way of "why isn't Etsy showing this anymore"?
I guess they can't please everybody, I set my own estimates and make sure I reinforce them in the Note to Buyer box on the shipping page. So far Etsy has not told my customers any different.
I honestly couldn’t care less whether EDDs stay or go — I just wish Etsy would make a decision and stick to it. What really doesn’t sit right with me is the inconsistency: why do they appear on some orders and not others? And why do the usual workarounds only function for certain orders? What on earth is Etsy doing?
That said, if they do decide to keep the EDDs, they absolutely need to stop penalising sellers who dispatch well within their stated processing times, simply because the order didn’t arrive within Etsy’s estimated delivery window.
I only became aware of the EDD issue because customers were complaining that their orders hadn’t arrived “on time.” The problem is, these estimates are mostly inaccurate and no longer seem to include processing time, which means I have no way of managing them — and they end up setting completely unrealistic expectations. Ironically, I now need to see those EDDs, because it’s the only way I can anticipate what a customer is expecting and try to manage that proactively.
I do like your idea about reinforcing delivery timeframes in the Note to Buyer section — I’ll be adjusting mine to include some extra info. That said, in my experience, most buyers don’t read listings, FAQs, shop policies, or anything beyond the product image and price. Still, I’ll stay optimistic!
Unfortunately, none of that makes much difference when it comes to how Etsy handles cases — if something arrives after the EDD, a refund they shall be given. Whether they read our info or not, their buyer rights on Etsy will always trump our own set of policies.
I am having the same problem. A workaround I have found (Chrome, MacOS) is to click "Get Shipping Labels". Then, the EDD will magically appear above the order information. I don't use Etsy shipping labels, so having to click this and then cancel it out every time is super annoying. The information is there, why not let us see it without having to do ridiculous workarounds?
