Etsy disables messages if you have been messaging customers who have not contacted you or have purchased from you which is illegal in most countries. There is no point contacting Etsy if this is the case they will not help you.
You will have to wait until Etsy decides to return the privileges to you as there is no set time limit, it could be days, weeks or months.

You have more chance of getting blood out of a stone than answers from Etsy support.
Most initial replies come from automatic copy paste bots, when you do finally get a real person reply, you may find they have not even read your email, so you reply and it starts all over again.. it is a vicious circle

Is it me or has there been an increase in muted messages lately? While spamming is a possibility, could it also be Etsy has programmed a new bot to limit the fraudulent messages sellers were receiving? With bots, we all know how that goes.

Yes there has been but believe those have received a different error message rather than you have been disabled, could be wrong though

That's a really hard question to answer. Etsy customer service seems to barely exist.

You could put a notification in your announcements that you are currently experiencing issues with your Etsy messaging which prevents you from sending replies via messenger and that those who purchase will receive an email instead
Keep maintaining your store, the messaging option will be returned eventually

almost at the same time I opened my shop
I lost 1 sell because of it and my message rate is 60%
I tried to make an announcement to my shop to contact me trough my fb page but no one seem to read announcement
I even told etsy staff that I will close my shop if it doesn’t get better because it’s bad for me
They still told me to wait
always wait……always the same answer…our dedicated team will contact you the fast possible
so yes there was a women from the staff that was helping me told me it was okay now everything fix but no….2 weeks later still waiting…..I explained all, call them too, told them I never contact anyone to promote, I only was helping a lady with her shop so I must have send lot of messages

And yes they did contact me trough email after about 2 weeks…and the lady was answering fast everyday and even help me with other problem…just the message…she seems to not repair it wel and forgot me somewhere…
so maybe keep waiting a little bit…and don’t open new ticket someone told me because it’s always going back in line
When they got back to you after 2 weeks, did your messaging problem go away? I guess they didn't fix it and you still can't message customers right?
They told me it’s fix now , please try your message and it should work and reach out back to us if anything lol
it didn’t work….so I mailed the lady staff again to tell her it’s still don’t work but she use to respond really fast and never responded this time
If it still doesn't work even though they say it's fixed, it won't get fixed again, because they're absolutely not interested and they don't try to fix this problem, the biggest problem for a seller is not being able to respond to their customer.
I guess they have bigger issues to work on…and I don’t know for you but I only make 3 sales so I’m not a big money maker or priority for them I guess…
