Banned Products

I am not sure if anyone has this issue with products been sold on Etsy. For some reason they're banning certain products without letting people know what can or cannot sell? Even if the product is not popular product.

Re: Banned Products

What got banned?

Fyi: Etsy is clear about not using their intellectual property in your products.

Re: Banned Products

Etsy decide to remove one of my products. I didn't see as a issue. I have to ask them is condoms are appropriate to sell on the site. If that's the case the people who run the site needs to be clear.

Re: Banned Products

@OutcastClothingBrand: Are you personally making each and every one of these condoms? Or did you design them yourself and a production partner is making them exclusively for you?

If you are reselling someone else's condoms (or anything else) then they are very clear about the rules https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/23948763872151-Does-Etsy-Allow-Drop-Shipping-or-Reselling?se...

@OutcastClothingBrand: "I have create the design for the condoms it is not made only for me" Then you have answered your own question as to why the listing was deactivated - that the item is condoms is irrelevant.

Re: Banned Products

@Bagmakersupply you're misinformed I have create the design. It was made to sell not use for myself. The condoms wasn't used and this wasn't a problem until this week. Etsy should've got rid ahead of time not wait until some years to deactivate the problem. I have products the design was made, but those designs were on shirts, stickers, and hoodies. If a person can put a design on a product. Then, Etsy should make it okay for myself and others. Everything did not always need to be handmade if your bags are handmade does not mean everyone product need to create by hand.

Re: Banned Products

Etsy will deactivate listings that violate the seller policies and creative standards. Have you read them?

It doesn't matter if a product is popular or not.

Re: Banned Products

Are you referring to something you were selling that is now deactivated?

Since the title you used doesn't explain much, were you selling actual condoms?

Re: Banned Products

They're also pretty explicit that you can't use their name/logo in designs. Like this one, https://www.etsy.com/listing/1704261992/be-yourself-stickers

Re: Banned Products

They have not removed it yet, when they do and remove others, they will end up getting fed up with removing and close your shop.

Re: Banned Products

@OutcastClothingBrand Don't come at me with that attitude. When you don't give specific examples in your original post people are going to make guesses based on what they can see.

@audreytherese  Another shop owner who gets accurate advice from long term sellers, with links to Etsy's policies to back it up no less, and refuses to listen.

Re: Banned Products

Etsy is not a curated marketplace.  Instead, Etsy sets TOUs that they expect sellers to read and abide by.  Chances are Etsy is not "banning certain products without letting people know what can or cannot sell."  But rather Etsy had a ban or policy in place and someone listed an item without bothering the read if it was Etsy-legal, or legal in general.  Then a few weeks or months go by and Etsy does a sweep and catches the offending item or items, or the IP holder files a DMCA, and then "POOF" the listing is taken down and the shop owner is dinged.

Example:  You are use "Etsy" and the Etsy logo on your products.  That is against Etsy's policies, and furthermore is trademark infringement.  It is disclosed here in Etsy legal:  https://www.etsy.com/legal/trademarks-examples

I would suggest you remove those listings before Etsy catches you.  Each ding adds up and has penalties, such as Etsy puts a Reserve on your funds and doesn't pay you for up to six months, Etsy lowers you in search, Etsy puts your shop on forced vacation, and Etsy can even do forced refunds of all your sales out of your pocket.

Hope this helps!

Re: Banned Products

As most replies above have stated, you need to comply with Etsy's TOU (Terms of Use) that you agreed to when you opened your shop.  It may behoove you to actually read them.

Additionally, your photos don't show what you are actually selling.  Most of your titles don't say what the item actually is.  What are you trying to actually sell?

Re: Banned Products

I'm guessing it's the condoms that are not  allowed on Etsy, regardless of the packaging design being customized.  I'm seeing joke  "mini condoms" being sold on Etsy as a novelty - but they are actually finger cots, creatively packaged.

@OutcastClothingBrand  We are trying to give you the heads-up that the stickers using the Etsy logo will get you in hot water at some point - the INstagram logo could cause the same problems.  Best wishes with your shop!
