Hello Etsy Community!
I have not been posting on Etsy for a while. I would love to fill up my shop for X-Mas but I’m having problems with changing my bank account information. My old bank account no longer exists I have switched banks and now I’m having issues with verifying my old bank account, so I can change into my new account.
before I fill my shop up I would like to have the safety of getting paid before getting billed.
I have no way of contacting any kind of support for this issue. I have continually been chasing my tail when I try.
If anyone has any ideas of how to help I would be super grateful. It would be nice to be able to get paid before filling up my shop.

@PopsGarageGoodies - You don't need to verify your old bank account. But, you do need to know the full account number to make any changes.
You do need to have the bank account you intend to use verified. Since Etsy started using Plaid to do the verification process, many shop owners found they needed to contact Etsy & request they 'unlink' their current (your old) account from their shop.
Then they could proceed with going thru the process of adding the new bank account info, etc.

It may take some time for Etsy to get the process going for you, you'll need to be patient.

I have my account information but unfortunately the account no longer exists. I closed it and opened a new one, so it’s unverifiable. I have tried.

I tried the link, unfortunately it’s the same thing I was going into before where, I have no direct way to contact someone in support directly. I’m hoping someone on support will see this message.
Im in this exact same boat. the instructions to follow are leading me to try and log into the old bank, which does not exist.. so I get stuck there as well
This is not a solution! This problem still exists.
If you don't have your previous banking details then how on earth can Etsy support help you? You need to get in touch with the bank instead.
If you reread her posts she says she has all the information. The way I understand it Etsy wants her to VERIFY her OLD account (which no longer exists) before she can add and verify the new account.
How can one verify an account that no longer exists? I would hate to try to explain that to Etsy since they do not understand the simplest of things.
@ThePurplePuppy Yes, a catch22 but I still don't see how Etsy can help. Perhaps a new shop with the new bank details will work instead?
Following up on this thread as I'm having the exact same problems. I reopened my old shop and now it won't let me change my banking information. I've made sales too which means I can't access my funds.
1) I've got all my old banking info but cannot verify the account because it's closed. I've contacted my bank and they can't verify anything. The account doesn't exist anymore.
2) I cannot figure out how to add a new account. There's no button or link that I can find that gives me the chance to add a new account.
3) Etsy support is giving me the run around and is giving me conflicting information about needing to close the account as well as waiting until I get a letter from my bank. I've asked them what to do and they just keep giving me the above link, which says nothing about how to access and change closed accounts.
Does anyone have any advice?
I am having a similar problem and it is now January 2024. Seems like they have not fixed this problem. I have a new bank and account and want to have deposit changed to this account so I can close the old one. But I can't get past the place where is says to verify the old bank account. Once I do that it doesn't forward me to any place to add the new bank account.
OK so I found a forum that cleared this up. Let me just say I've read the response before and it didn't click until just now.
Instead of trying to connect and verify my OLD bank account, I just needed to click the Edit button and enter my NEW bank and account details. It's connected now and hopefully things will work smoothly. I hope this helps someone else out because I've been pulling my hair out now for well over a week and giving myself an ulcer worrying about having to open a new shop.
Ok, I guess I will look for this, but I actually tried that and it didn't work. That was over a week ago before I contacted Etsy and I am still waiting to hear back from them about a solution. They said they were having a technical problem.
HI there - I have also been trying to figure this out! Someone messages me and said my seller account payments are not activated?? but really I was scammed and had to close my old bank account but there'd no "edit" on my payments page I swear I've watched youtubes and spent days trying to figure out how to switch my bank info! Do you still see an "edit" button on your payment page?? Thank you so much!
Go to the Payment Settings section, then Payment Methods and under your Bank Details, there should be an Edit button. Did that help?
I had a similar issue earlier this year. Could not verify my old account number (even after confirming it numerous times with my bank), so I could not add my updated bank account information. The issue resolved itself after my funds were automatically sent to my old account, which had been closed for years. My old bank (Chase) received the deposit, recognized the account as closed and returned the deposit to Etsy. The Etsy system then auto-cleared my old account information and notified me about adding new bank details. I was able to add new account info with no issues and continue operating my shop.
Before the resolution, I contacted Etsy support about the issue. We emailed back and forth for weeks and their only advice was that I open a new shop. They said the absolutely, positively could do nothing to resolve the issue and it could only be fixed by opening a new shop.
