I opened a new bank account today. The plaid system is able to verify the account but telling me it's not compatible. Wtf? It's a chase checking account. One of the nation's biggest banks, not compatible?
Is it because it's a new account? Has anyone else had this issue? Anyone know how to solve it? Support just told me to try again tomorrow. I can't call plaid, they have 0 customer service. I called both of my banks, they see no issues on their end.
Yes, the issue is likely because the account is **brand new**, and Chase hasn't fully processed it for third-party integrations yet. Even though **Plaid** can verify it, Etsy (or any platform using Plaid) might still flag it as **"not compatible"** due to restrictions placed on newly opened accounts.
### **Possible Reasons & Solutions:**
- Some banks (including Chase) **hold new accounts for 24-48 hours** before allowing third-party connections.
- **Solution:** Wait **24 hours**, then try again.
- Some Chase checking accounts (e.g., **student accounts, business accounts, or high-security accounts**) **block Plaid integrations**.
- **Solution:** If you have multiple checking accounts, try linking another one.
- Chase sometimes **blocks external access** until you approve it in your online banking settings.
- **Solution:** Log into your **Chase account → Security & Privacy settings** → Look for **"Third-Party App Access"** and enable it.
- Some users have reported that **Plaid doesn’t support all checking accounts from major banks, even if it should.**
- **Solution:** Instead of using **Plaid’s instant verification**, try **manual verification (micro-deposits).**
- Etsy usually offers this if instant linking fails. It takes **1-2 days** to verify but **bypasses Plaid issues.**
### **Final Advice:**
- **Try again tomorrow** (as Etsy support suggested).
- **Check Chase’s settings** for third-party app permissions.
- **If instant linking keeps failing, use manual verification (micro-deposits).**
If none of this works, **Etsy Support may need to manually override the issue.
Thanks for such a detailed response.
I thought it was because the account was new. But chase has acknowledged the link to etst. It is showing as a third party on my chase account.
Etsy and/or plaid won't acknowledge the account.
It tried to send micro deposits over and they wouldn't go through.
I looked it up, and ive read plaid should be able to verify a new account right away.
i tried both ways, by log in and by manually entering account.
But i will give it another day or two and try again.
Double check the info like the account number, bank card and name to make sure they are correct. No misspellings, no missing numbers, etc.
Hi, thank you! I've checked over and over. It's telling me the credentials are correct, but its not compatible. Thank you.
Wait a few days. I have a Chase checking account and had no problem verifying with Plaid using the instant method
I will. I dont have much of a choice at this point. But even the chase reps were confused. Because etsy is being recognized on my chase account. It says it sharing the information. The problem is on etsy/plaid end.
