Australian Sellers, Serious Bug with your Location. Many are shipping from "Iowa" "north carolina"

This bug was pointed out to me by another seller in Sydney...that my items were listed as dispatching from "iowa", his from "north carolina" - a potential buyer in Australia contacted him asking if he shipped to Australia! 

I might have figured out what the problem was - Free shipping! - turned that all off, re did all the shipping profiles...... and back to normal "shipping from Austalia" - lets hope it stays that way!!

Make sense now why there have been next to no sales in 2 weeks compared to 5-10. 

I contacted support  via chat and the response was along the lines of  "thank you for your feedback, we will pass on your ideas about the design of the site " ...I asked for the issue to be passed on to technical support........but dont hold your breath for things to change with this serious bug.

When I reported last month about the mobile browser issue, through chat, it took them a week to get back to me with an email. Fortunately, by then, enough people reported, and the issue was fixed.

I don't have the app so I am not aware of the problems that it has. I guess I should install it so I can police it.

I would suggest that every single person this is affecting contact support. (And tell them it's app related and not user related.) I think that's what got the mobile browser issue fixed.

@SmudgePlant the problem with reporting is Etsy is in the US and unless you're in a country with the problem, you don't see it. It's only on the buyers' app, not the sellers' new one. We're having dramas even getting Etsy techs to understand it's the app and nothing else. So many countries involved (but not the US) so obviously not a priority. 

If you do install the app, can you let us know what you see.

I looked at your black and white notebooks on the app.

Under item details it has the blurb about shipping from Illinois but under Shipping Polices it says "From Australia".

It gives me, in California, an estimated delivery date of Jun 20-Jul 5.

@SmudgePlant thank you. The shipping timeframe is correct Australia to US. Obviously the ships from is the problem. Maybe Etsy should be able to see the problem if they're in the US ... if they bother to look beyond their computer screen : (

@AnniebelloPaper @FunkyKoala I changed my settings back too. It's hard to differentiate with so many issues occurring, but I've noted a pretty distinct slump in activity/favouriting for three days now and literally zero activity since adjusting my postcode this morning.

I did receive a random order from the US last week (super rare these days) so out of curiosity, I've reached out to ask if she had confused my shop location.

I'm wondering if the problem now is that our altered postcodes are excluding us from domestic searches because it's not an official Australian postcode. 

I too got a large order from the US two days ago. I waited until the last possible moment before posting but didn't contact the buyer. I would have thought the expensive shipping might have tipped her off and the fact that she bought 4 items from the same listing so had to have seen my warning at the top of the description. Possibly she wouldn't have found me if not for this problem. 

I'm thinking I might just change mine back as well and leave the wording in the description ... hope for the best.

Yup. I just changed it back, deleted the 00's. I'm pretty sure that the only activity to register since I changed it were planned views from fellow Aussie sellers on this forum! No idea how to proceed now.

I guess Etsy has better things to do than deal with a widespread technical issue affecting sellers in multiple counties.

@ApogeeVintage Smudge above just looked at my listings (I've changed them back to the real postcode) and they can see the 'ships from Illinois so Etsy should be able to see the problem being in the US as well. I'm not sure what the right course is anymore. I've just recovered from covid and am working tomorrow. I'm going to sleep on it.

@AnniebelloPaper  I really worry about playing around with the postcodes, as you never know what issues this may cause down the track.

Have placed an Important Notice at the top of my announcements section regarding the glitch, but most likely many buyers don't check that part. 

Today I have the lowest amount of visits since I started, no idea what that is about.

The problem is fixed for Germany .We have entered our correct postal code again. It works

@BeautBots  On the Buyer app, it's showing "Only ships within Australia." (I checked your Organic hemp petals.)

I just checked, on the Buyers app,  the same notebooks I checked before from @AnniebelloPaper 's  shop and it's now showing, next to the little truck icon, "Ships from Australia to select countries." (I'm in the USA)

Woohoo! it seems to have been fixed now....fingers crossed.....every shop Ive looked at in Australia seems to be correct now........although there appears to be no announcement from Etsy anywhere I can find.

Yep, just removed the 00 from my Shipping Profiles and location appears to be normal again. I did ask them to email me when it was fixed ....

@C20Ceramics yep I looked too, and seems to be that we are all good! Same for our international friends who were affected. There has been NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of this major error in any way from Etsy, despite claims of forum updates and emails addressing this. I'm confident nothing would've been done had we not continued to make nuisances of ourselves @CostumePatternTrim
