Hello,
I use etsy postage labels all the time for my orders through Australia Post.
But occasionally i need to lodge an inquiry with Australia Post on a parcel.
They always say im not on the "manifest" and not the sender and that Etsy is the sender and i need to get Etsy to contact them,
I have even showed proof of the labels showing my name/address as the sender,
Etsy has said again that im the sender and they cant lodge anything,
So basically no one helps me and i get no where with it.
Has anyone had this issue before with Australia Post saying they are not the sender and that Etsy is on the manifesf?
It is easier creating the labels on Etsy but i think moving forward im going to start using my Australia post online account to send instead so i can lodge inquiries.
Thanks
I learned this the hard way years ago, using 3rd party shipping. It is hard enough chasing answers directly with a postal service or courier but at least it is direct contact and you always get there in the end.
If you are using postage labels provided by a 3rd party such as Etsy then Etsy is the customer and has the contract with the postal companies only they can make the enquiry and we all know how easy it is to get any answers from them, I would not trust them to chase anything up on my behalf.
I will only buy labels direct from the courier or postal service now, at least if something needs chasing up I am talking to the right persons and not relying on someone else to do it for me.
Thank you. Etsy was quite rude on the chat actually the other day. Saying well what do you mean, you are the sender. They honestly didn't even care when i said well actually Etsy is on the manifest. I think i will stop using Etsy labels. It makes it impossible to do a postal claim too.
The problem with Etsy customer service is that most of the time you are speaking to someone who does not know the answer to anything you are requesting about, then the situation arises where they either are friendly and say what you want to hear, rude or lie to you. Etsy really needs to start looking at improving their customer service as this is the largest reason why their reviews are shocking online.
As for 3rd party postal firms, they have the contracts with many postal systems to get a huge reduction in fees, which technically they have to pass on to the customer, in reality this is not always the case which makes the 3rd party postal company pointless. By using a 3rd Party postal company you also relinquish any control of a direct contact to find out anything about your parcel, although they do offer insurance, again you have to go through them and not the postal service.
I realised a long time ago that they are quick to take your money but have 0% interest in solving problems when they arise and even less so in your customers as they will just blame the postal service. They are more hassle then they are worth.
You are better off booking directly, keep control and these days most of the time it cost you less than booking via the 3rd parties which does not even make any sense, but there you go.
