Hi, I’ve seen numerous people saying this for a few years now in forums- it says in the Etsy Seller Handbook that if you don’t set a minimum order value you can choose which products to apply the discounts to, but it’s not possible, nowhere in the set up process does it let you choose specific products, it just says at the end that the discount is shop wide
from the Seller Handbook:
If you don’t set a minimum order to qualify, you will be able to select specific listings to include in the sale. You can edit the sale later to include new listings if needed.
If you do set a minimum order to qualify, your sale will be shop-wide and you won’t be able to exclude items from it.”
YES! You can run a sale or create a coupon that can be used on specific items. In the set-up, the 3rd item from the top says ORDER MINIMUM, it defaults to none, so do not change anything on that line. Fill out the rest of the page and click continue. On the next page you can choose whichever items you wish to include. I do it all the time and it has always worked.
March 2025 and this doesn't work anymore sadly.
Many people miss the "Next" or "Continue" Radio Button at the bottom of the Sales and Discounts Page (bottom right on a PC .If you cannot see this, reduce your viewing setting from 100% to 80%
This "Continue" Radio Button will only show if you have no conditions on the Sale Event such as Minimum Order Total or Minimum Number of Items. Make sure the "None" option is selected.
Clicking on "Continue" brings up another page. On that page you will see
"Which listings are included in your sale? Your discount can apply shop-wide, or be limited to specific items."
On this page you can choose "All Listings" or "Select Listings"
When you use “Select Listings” you can see the “Search for Specific Listings” on the right/ There is an “Add” button, but I find this, sometimes, does not work so I double click on the Listing information under the search bax and this adds the Listing to the Sale
Hi, For some reason when I click "continue" like you've suggested, it takes me to a confirm page, not a page where I can select individual listings for the coupon to apply to. Would it be possible for guidance on that, I'm sure I must be doing something wrong! Is it maybe different if using the computer browswer versus the phone app?
Thank you
I just spoke to support, and here's what they told me. It worked:
ETSY: You can create a coupon by going to Shop manager >> Marketing >> Sales and discounts
There you need to click on "create a promo code"
ME: I've done that, but it only lets me create for the whole store. Unless I'm missing a step.
ETSY: What are you choosing in the "order minimum"?
ME: "none"
ETSY: And what you're offering in "Discount amount"?
ME: "Fixed Amount" but I can change that if it would help
ETSY: You can set that to Percentage off, then only you will get an option to select specific listing.
This info during the exchange was helpful!
I am a new seller about to launch later in July. As a new seller, to stimulate early sales I want to offer a discount for 1st 100 buyers. I read how to create a coupon code. Got that. However, I need some guidance on how I provide the coupon code to the buyer since the coupon is only going to one of the first 100 buyers. Any help is appreciated.
@HeelSitStaySpeak: The answer partially depends on if you mean giving the coupon to the first 100 people at the time of their purchase or as a Thank You to the first 100 who have purchased.
If the former. the only way that you could do this on Etsy is to start your coupon and then manually deactivate it when you have 100 uses of that coupon.
It is the former. And the solution you provided is quite simple. Thank you very much!
You need to select Run A Sale, not Create a Promo Code. Then you can set the % off you want to offer and set the dates of the sale. Give your sale a name and Click Continue in the bottom right corner. On the next page, check Select Listings. You will then see on the left, Add listings by Shop Sections, and on the Right a search box where you can search for part of the product name. A dropdown will show you all the products that contain the words you searched for. Click on the ones you want and they will be added.
If you want most of the products in a section, you can select it to add everything in that section, then click the Xs to the right of the product name if you want to remove a few products. Or if you want to offer random products it might be easier to use the search box.
Once you create a sale like this, how can you generate a link to share with people so that only the items on sale appear for the user? Kinda weird to advertise a 50% sale and then tell customer to search through your whole catalog to find the ones being discounted. Thanks!
@ApparelJungleUSA: Make a link to the 'On Sale' section of your shop.
When you create a sale, Etsy automatically creates a sale section in your sections, so it is easy to find on sale items.
Thank you so much for the wisdom! It's so impressive to see how Etsy sellers support each other! Much appreciated!!
I'll have to look more closely at the guidelines. I have flexibility. The goal is simply to present a fresh idea in the category, price it lower than my comp and provide an incentive to take action. Thanks for the comments.
@HeelSitStaySpeak If it's truly a "fresh idea," you shouldn't have any competition.
@AmberRavenscroft In your shop sections there will be one called on sale. Send them a link to that section unless of course you are sending messages to Etsy buyers - that's against the rules.
@NanaLetha I think you meant to @ ApparelJungleUSA.
To those that replied to create a link off the automatically created sales section:
What if you are running an entire shop discount of say 20% and then you want to highlight a 50% discount on select items and also promote the 50% items to your social media platforms? At the moment, the only fix I could think of was to create a new section called 50% off, pull the items from their standard sections and put them into the 50% off section - and then share the link to that 50% off section. But there is a limitation on Etsy not giving a SHARE and SAVE link for sections. Anyone know why and if they have plans to fix that?
@ApparelJungleUSA: "... Etsy not giving a SHARE and SAVE link for sections" What triggers Share And Save is the 'shopname.etsy, com' part of the URL, so all you need to do is share 'https://shopname.etsy,com/?section_id=[#section_id#]'
Yes, you can choose which items to include in a sale. I just tried it and it works like it should (on my laptop).
I am not able to put specific items on sale. "ADD" does not work? Should one pick an item and click on "X" ? Selecting the item from list has no options other than "X" and "add" any input would be appreciated.
