I have had two customers message me recently about the linked photos not matching what I have on the listing. The one just messaged me today and sent a screen cap of what she is seeing. For example, on this listing for one of my powder puffs, her screen cap shows the photo for the light purple puff option when she clicks on the aqua. The description says aqua, the price matches the aqua option but the photo shows the light purple. Needless to say, she is confused by this, as am I. I double checked everything and when I click the light purple or aqua option it shows correctly for me. I am using my laptop, maybe it is a problem with other browsers or mobile.
This is a real problem as the price varies as well as the color so it confuses the buyer since they don't know what color they are purchasing the one in the linked photo or the one in the description. Anyone else have this problem?
@Soapsmith - They match fine for me...laptop/W10/Chrome
Perhaps she needs to clear the history on her computer?
That's what I am using, too, and I see it correctly. Her screen cap looks like it was mobile. Since this is the second person to message me with the problem this week for different items it concerns me now. Thanks for checking.
edited to add, she is also an Etsy seller and was wondering why I didn't set it up correctly - but it is correct on my end.
@Soapsmith - looks fine on my android also.
oops...duplicate post
I wonder if this has to do with Etsy adding the black picture that they are testing. It has links. Its very annoying to me, because I use the last picture to show ribbon colors on many listings, so I always point customers to my last picture. But if they are in the test, the last picture is actually links out of the shop. Super frustrating.
I am able to see a similar problem when I view that listing in Safari. (Chrome and Firefox are fine)
I agree with those who say it may be a cache issue. It also is possible it is related to the issue I was having yesterday - https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/My-photos-appearing-as-other-sellers-items-in-search-... (which also only happens in Safari)
I recommend letting Etsy know. If enough people are having similar issues, one one think there's something Etsy can do (beyond just telling everyone to dump their cache?)
Yep. It's a Safari issue.
I see this problem all the time....wrong photo ....often repeated all over the page. No one at Etsy seems to care about it...It has been happening for at least 6 months. It appears to be only when using Safari as a browser. Shoppers are not going to clear their cache etc. because of a problem caused by Etsy...and most people wont know how to clear their cache on Safari (different to clearing history)
A shopper who is using Safari and sees this is just going to give up with.....because nothing matches. It is also probably just another on the list of reasons (caused by Etsy) why most sellers have seen a dramatic fall in sales .....it is just all too hard for many buyers to use Etsy now.
That is profoundly frustrating. Especially if it's been going on for so long!
