Anyone else having issues with digital downloads being auto completed?

Since last year in November this has started happening to me. I sell mostly digital download items, which I have selected as made to order. So in turn the order cannot be completed until I upload the customers item via Etsy downloads. Well as of November of last year, I started noticing some orders will get automatically completed without me changing any settings or anything. That has caused me to notify the customer as soon as I notice it and inform them of what’s going on and most have been pretty understanding about it. I have reported it to Etsy, and they say they have a team looking into it and they would provide an update once a solution has been found. So far nothing and it is still continuing. It’s not just my shop that has dealt with it, but my sisters shop as well and she has dealt with it for months. Anyone else dealing with this issue?

I think I'm having a similar, if not the same, issue.  My custom download orders have come in and ETSY won't let me upload the files to the customer so I send them via email.  I cannot change the progress to 'COMPLETE' within ETSY.  Did you find a solution as yet?  I'm trying to find a way to contact ETSY support but I can't find how to do this.  I'm pretty new to ETSY.  Thanks.

It's been going on for months.

Only advice is to edit it in the OLD listing format, but it only fixes it for so long before it happens again.

This happened to me with a customer on 2/28/2024 on a custom digital item listing. Very confusing for both the Customer and I. I sent the customer the digital item in email but this leaves the order as not having a file to download and the customer is unable to leave a review. Can someone from Etsy confirm they are away of the issue?

Lately, I have been noticing some sellers uploading the finished product to a cloud site and just putting the link to the site, perhaps with a note of what is going on, in the digital download space on Etsy. That way it shows up as completed. However since the customer can instantly access whatever you put on that, it might be better just to put the note in the download telling the customer when you will email the file to them.

Just to comment on the beginning, I also upload the non-custom order, ready-made file to the cloud only because it is 200 MB and the limit you are looking for is 20 MB.

Yes. For ages. I contact etsy each time, technical give the standard 'we are aware of the issue' and suggest "emailing the file" to the client and "editing using the old editor"--been happening since made to order digital files were allowed and etsy do not appear to be in a rush to fix this issue.
