I've been on Etsy since 2006 (I think that was the year!) I have a perfectly ordinary craft supplies shop and to my knowledge, no issues whatever except sales aren't what they used to be (!) I was in my shop, renewing a few things, reading at the Forums, etc, and I went to my front page to check something or other. ALL my listings are deactivated!
I've received no email or communication from Etsy, and I did receive my regular email notice this morning that my funds for the last week were on the way to my bank. All perfectly ordinary. I know there've been a zillion issues / mistakes / etc on Etsy lately... I'm assuming this is another one. But of course since it's *my* shop now all of a sudden I'm concerned. (Yes I'm laughing at myself - well you know what I mean).
Has anybody had this happen? Was there a contact link that worked for you? I've sent one note so far...
Thanks for any help!
ETA: I just saw a note that my shop really has been suspended. They want my valid Social Security number, which they've had for 18 years. Gosh. Like I said - if anybody has a good contact link, I would appreciate it!
Hello NanaLetha,
Are you supposed to be an Etsy spokesperson? Is this link supposed to explain the "glitch" in the platform that says it will deactivate listings? Is a written explanation too complex to include in your response? If the problem has been ongoing for so long, why is it being addressed so late?
I just "re-activated" all my listings via the renew button at the top of each page in the dashboard, which means all of my listings will automatically renew on a certain date, with the automatic charge included whether or not they are still active. I'm hoping that from that point onward, this "glitch" will have been corrected....??!!
Etsy has been a relatively user friendly platform, and I appreciate the service, but "glitches" such as this one.... threatening to remove all listings.... fill me with uncertainty about the expenditure of time to keep my shop in shape.
@NanaLetha, thank you! I've gone over to that thread and been reading - and posting. I appreciate it!
I got an email today that they messed up the auto renew AGAIN and on April1 they will be deactivating those 95 listings and relisting them ( with no back charges this time at least) I wonder if this is not attached to that Snafu somehow?
Wow! Just saw your ETA.
I just got this email,
We recently uncovered a bug that kept some of your listings from expiring every four months as they should. This means you were never charged the $0.20 renewal fee for 250 of your listings.
"You can view your affected listings in the Listings section of your Shop Manager—they will appear at the top with an expiration date in the past."
I mixed up what email went to what shop..this one does have expired listings...
@hopeandjoystudios I do not think that the OP's issue is related to the "unexpired Listings" problem.
For over 6 years I have had istings set to Manual Renew fail to expire. Initially, I opened Support Tickets but the issue was never addressed / resolved.
By my calculations, in just one Shop alone, Etsy has lost over $ 800 in Loisting Fees due to their failure to acknowledge and correct the technical issue.
Actually, some people may never have noticed because whatever the issue was it did not affect every Listing and some did expire as usual. It was easy to miss the ones that did not.
Anyway, according to the email, Etsy is going to manually expire any Listings with an expiry date in the past.
But they will not do this until 01 April. People have until that date to check their Lisings and manually renew them. Or they can wait until Etsy "expires them" and renew a few at a time.
The problem is that this may well afect the majority of the Listings in a Shop and renewing all at once could be expensive. And that would also have renewals "clumped" together.
In one of my Shops I have 291 of 560 Listings which will all expire on one day. That is over 50%. I was Mnaually Renewing but the same Listings just got "stuck" again, so I gave up. Now I have the choice of renewing 291 Listings over 7 days or waiting until they are "Expired" and have 1/2 a Shop as of 01 April.
But, I am reluctant to "Renew" before the Listings officially "Expire" as I have a feeling that the "fix" for the issue may well need the manual expiry by Etsy because, when I have renewed in the past, the same Listings failed to expire again after 4 Months.
@CarpetCollectionAU Man..I mean it is not like this has not happened/been reported before. If this was any other company, heads would roll! Can you imagine how much money they have lost? Do you read it to be that if we renew BEFORE April 1st thy will not remove those listings? I do not want to renew then have them deactivated!
@hopeandjoystudios I really do not know the answer to your question.
I have a feeling that the "fix" will require the forced "expiry". I have renewed listings past their expiry but which had not expired only to have the same thing happen to those listings when they were next due to expire.
I know the email advises to set "auto renew" on all Listings in a Shop, but I have no conidence that this will eliminate the problem.
My listings are auto renew except for a handful I want to expire so I set them to manual.
My shop was suspended and all my listings removed because of my SS# this morning. Same info I've been using for 12 years on Etsy, all correct, and I resubmitted all the info with photo downloads and they denied verification and closed my shop. I'm beyond pissed, but it gives me some hope that it's an Etsy glitch if others are having the same issue.
Etsy..Wth??? Who is running this place??
@DotnBettys Yes, for what it's worth, you're not the only one. Wondering if we'll get some attention to this at all...
Do we have to be constantly checking our shops to make sure our listings are active now? There have been several posts today about this same problem. It's unbelievable.
Things feel very unstable around here right now.
I wonder what would happen if we opened support tickets that asked for help with preventing all of our listings from being deactivated ... then if they are, we can respond 'I still need help'.
Things have felt unstable here for awhile.
If its not one thing it's another..sheesh

Luckily I only had two listings that they told me didn't work in the renewal process. I still don't know which two, out of a couple hundred, they were.
according to etsystatus.com, it's not a site wide issue, only certain shops. Is it only vintage shops that visit the forums ?
