It's not a technical issue, it's a scam.
There's no order. They're just trying to get your banking information.
Lots of posts about this.
Since you have at least given them some information, I highly suggest changing your password and setting up 2FA if you haven't already.
Thank you @audreytherese
Unfortunately @audreytherese is correct. This is part of a rather elaborate scam. They target newer sellers. Loads of sellers have received these fraudulent messages in the last couple of weeks.
I believe the next step will ask for your debit card details so they can "pay" you for the fake sale. Don't give them any more details. Mark the Etsy messages as SPAM.
Hi Amaradorn, thank you so much for the reply and info, its much appreciated I wll be cautious....
I bet this is one that Etsy has deleted the account. That's the reason you cannot find them. Guess they are going to get rid of all the sand on this scammer beach one grain at a time.
just had the same message. I thought it was a bit funny as when you look in your messages it has a ''from Esty'' option and funnily the message isn't in there. bloody scammers. I hate to think how many people they have got with this. I messaged back 'you're a scam! go away!'
surprisingly nothing since
This is a scam. Thieves are pretending to be Etsy staff. This scam has been ongoing since at least July 2023.
Update: messages from Etsy will show up in your mailbox titled "From Etsy".
Real Etsy staff will never ask for your email address because they already have it. Also, any actual orders will show up on your dashboard. If the sale is not displayed on your dashboard, you don't have a sale.
Don’t respond or provide any personal or financial information. Don't click any links that take you off the Etsy site. Send the message to spam.
If you have provided any financial information, immediately contact your bank to report fraud on your account!
Make it part of your daily routine to visit the forums. You can learn about ongoing concerns, problems, glitches, and scams. Stay informed!

Why would anyone think Etsy would contact you for a problem that is their own fault (processing) and expect you to use a work around (entering card details) to fix it? There are a lot of problems that Etsy won't or isn't inclined to fix but processing credit cards isn't one of them. That they would jump on immediately because it impacts their bottom line directly. There are a few countries that don't have Etsy payments but not correcting credit card processing themselves just doesn't make sense.
In the past week there have been 77 active threads about these scams and we keep getting new ones. It’s not much when you consider the 7 or 8 million shops that could be targeted, but I wish there was some way to blast the shops for a ew days so maybe more sellers wouldn’t fall for it. I know that’s major spamming and would tick a bunch of sellers off but do you think it might stop more sellers from getting ripped off?
