Today the inability to manually type in the alt text field is fixed for me, but there's a new glitch in the alt text field. Today I can not backspace or foward space using the arrow keys while typing alt text - it sends me through the carousel of pictures instead. While the alt text field has a blue border, the arrow key functions need to stay within the field - for editing alt text, not for navigating the photo carousel.
