Alt Text is gone?

I'm pretty sure I saw this being discussed previously but now I can't find it! But does anybody know why they removed all the alt text or the ability to add it?  Or am I just missing a change somewhere but it's still available?

Sorry for the duplicate question if this has been more fully addressed - it just seems crazy to delete one more way of conveying information to the customer!

I'm seeing it but you now have to scroll a little bit and click a button to edit or add the alt text. It used to be right there on the right side of the photos but the new layout requires a scroll and more clicking per usual with Etsy. 

Are you seeing the photos in a different layout than before? If so try scrolling just a bit it's right under the photos now in the layout I'm seeing. Not sure if it's a test or permanent. It stinks if it's permanent. Always more scrolling and clicking grr.

Slightly below within that sub-thread, I made a comment about what would be a more meaningful change from Alt Text, that would assist BOTH the visually impaired buyer & seller!  So, I was at first thrilled at seeing this post, then disappointed that Etsy isn't quite there yet, for making that change.  Oh well...but any "quiet" absence/return of this capability *might/could* possibly mean they took my suggestion to heart and that the techy tinkering stage has begun.  One can only hope!

Yesterday when I added a new listing, the place to add alt text was in a new place.

Today, it is gone entirely.

hmmm...maybe they took my suggestion and are reworking it to be more user friendly, less labor intensive!

I still see the option to add the alt text on a desktop. When I open the listing to edit it, then I click on a photo (NOT on the pencil edit icon), then the photo shows up in a smaller window with a few buttons beneath it.  [ + Alt Text ] is one of those buttons

AAhhh, thank you.  This worked for me on my laptop.  I clicked on the picture when I opened the listing, just as you mentioned (and not the pencil), and then I had to scroll down just like another person mentioned to see more options with the Alt Text button.  Thank you!

This is what I found as well - click on the photo itself, not the edit pencil, scroll down a bit and there it is.

@ButterflyFeetDigital  I found it on some of my listing pages, but most of them are not showing it. Perhaps Etsy isn't finished phasing it in. It's frustrating that it's taking so long to fix.
