I ship all my items from the Netherlands. While Etsy says I can buy their shipping labels I cannot actually find the option anywhere. The companies Esty does use for their shipping labels like USPS do not exist here.
So to ship my items i use a local company. PostNL it’s called. They do provide a tracking code which I input when I finish an order. I make sure that my customer recieves a tracking email from PostNL so they can track the shipment if they want because Etsy is stuck on Pre-Transit for every one of my orders except two that say “on its way” (or something like it I’m translating from Dutch). Most of these have arrived already and I’ve gotten feedback from my customers.
is it a problem that according to Etsy the items still have not arrived? And if so, is it just because I’m using a third party shipping partner or is there something I can do to prevent this? I’d rather inform my customers properly
Welcome to Christmas in online selling. Most postal services are overloaded with packages requiring delivery between now and Christmas. Often this results in the PO cutting corners to keep things moving smoothly. The first thing that goes is regular scans. They are more concerned with getting the package to its destination than updating tracking on every delivery. Often you are lucky to get an acceptance scam and a delivery confirmation. In between, they just keep everything moving as smoothly as possible.

I would not be too concerned at this point. If the orders were from 2 months ago, it is highly likely that your buyers would have been in touch by now if they had not received what they ordered.
Etsy's shipping verification provider is not able to verify all shipping companies. If you ship with a lesser known shipper, you may not see the detail updated on Etsy, even after the delivery. Have you tried following the tracking directly on the shipper's site?
@TheLayerLab we cannot buy Etsy labels in the EU, I am in France and one problem that has been happening is sometimes there is a glitch where the shipping provider you enter will change to Fedex, so you could check to see if that has happened in the order details.
I also have one order that is still showing Pre-transit which was posted on the 28th Nov with La Poste and its been an on going issue for ages, my sub PO says they are not allowed to scan items at the counter and they will get scanned at the depot which does not always happen, one of my orders only got its first scan when it reached Canada.
It is very frustrating to say the least, I don't know why I keep paying for tracking, I detest La Poste and its stupid Site with its constant issues.
En voyant dans ma boutique, que l’étoile de livraison n’était plus là, j’ai vérifié les commandes incriminées. Deux sont toujours en transit , ce qui est amusant c’est qu’une des deux a été livrée et que l’acheteur a même laissé un commentaire 5 étoiles. Je vais arrêter de renouveler mes fiches produits et laisser passer le rush de Noël en attendant que le service postal revienne à la normale. Je sens que beaucoup d’étoiles vont s’envoler au 1er janvier…Bon courage à tous
