For the love of god it shouldn't take 15 tries in order to adjust a thumbnail.

Hello!
Prior to posting in a thread in the Forums, we ask that you please check if you are not bumping an old thread that hasn't seen any activity in a few months (or years, even). If that is the case, and you still would like to share your thoughts and get the conversation going - whether about this or similar topics, we ask that you start your own thread instead of bumping an old one.
Please note that reviving old threads can cause confusion for members reading, so always check the dates of the most recent replies before posting. You can find this information on the top-left corner of each message, just below the member's username and profile picture.
Having said that, we are closing this thread as it is indeed a bit older, and the information contained here may be outdated.
Thank you!

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
I've noticed it hasn't been working lately as well -- just giving up most of the time.

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
Upload your photos and complete your listing without adjusting the thumbnail - then publish it - then go back in and tweak the thumbnail. I know this sucks but it's the only work around I've found.

Thanks -- I'll try that.

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
I adjust my thumbnails before I upload them. I create most of my pictures on the computer so am futzing with them anyway, but even when I take a photo, I adjust it first. It's easier than dealing with Etsy's unreliableness.

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
(Sorry, I was thinking of cropping to improve the thumbnail. I don't find the adjust feature helpful.)

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
Most of my photos I crop into a square before I upload to Etsy. I try to leave a little empty space at the top and bottom especially for the first image which gets automatically cropped after it's been uploaded here. At least that's how it looks on my laptop. On a cellphone, the square images seem to fill up the screen better too.

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
Three months later and this is still an issue. I listed some things today and it took three attempts per listing to get the adjusted thumbnail to take.

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
@Former_Member
Unfortunately it's been broken/malfunctioning for at least 6 months for me. Maybe even a year. I gave up even trying to adjust them when I first create a listing as the adjustments never stick. It only works if I publish then go back and edit to adjust thumbnail. No idea why but that's how it's been for a while now. Unnecessary extra steps to work around an endlessly broken bit that Etsy can't seem to fix.

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
@WitticismsRus Thank you. I remember reading about this issue a while ago, but I didn't seem to have it back then. It only started for me recently. And it's sporadic. Sometimes it works as it should and other times it doesn't.
I did recently figure out to publish first, but today, even that didn't work on the first try.

Still an issue after nearly two years.

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
It's unbelievable this hasn't been fixed yet. It's such basic functionality, you'd think it would have higher priority than silent videos or all the other ridiculous "features" they've wasted developers' time with over the last two years.

Re: Adjusting Thumbnails
It works for me but doesn't always show in the listing until after I publish. I kept trying and trying in the listing - eventually yes, but then I figured out once you set it and publish - ta-da!
