I was trying to put up a new listing.
And I've updated the first listing by accident.
Somehow, after clicking to publish, the first active listing disappeared!!
I've went ahead to publish the 2nd listing thinking that it may be a bug.
The 2nd listing didn't appear too, even after it said that it's being published after clicking on "Publish".
The listings tab kept showing no listing.
Clicked on "Inactive" and the 2 listings are now there, showing in red, "Deactivated By Esty.",
This doesn't make sense.
What's the problem and how to resolve this issue??
Is it because that the listing is now pending review?
What exactly were the items? Please be specific.
You tried to publish items that are prohibited by Etsy, apparently.
Or you were using one of the many shadowbanned words that Etsy doesn't allow.
What, exactly, did you try to list?
What title were you using?
DO NOT LIST ANY MORE ITEMS until you figure this out.
If you have too many deactivated items, Etsy will permanently close your shop.
Thank you for your assistance.
I'm just selling Astrology reports.
Don't think it's a prohibited product in Etsy.
Please advise what are shadowbanned words?
My 1st Published listing (1-month report) didn't have any issue until I accidentally amended it with the same title as the 2nd product (3-months report) that I'm trying to list.
I've tried listed the 3rd product (6-months report) and it's Active without issue.
I think this is likely the reason (duplicated title).
Is there a way to Activate the listing again from being inactive?
Shadowbanned words are words that Etsy has programmed bots to go after. They also cause a listing to be completely hidden from search results.
There is NO published list of words that Etsy has forbidden, but I can give you an example.
"Amber" is one word that will trigger bots to take down your listing. A child choked to death on a amber necklace with small beads from an Etsy seller, so Etsy banned Amber beads under a certain size. So now Etsy will deactivate items with that word until a human can look at them.
There are many, many more words on that list.
Were you making any claims that you seriously just cannot guarantee?
Hmmm..
I don’t believe so, as I’ve used a similar writing style and format as the descriptions in my deactivated listings. This also applies to the 6-month and 12-month listings I’ve just published and is active now without issue.
Thus, I suspect that it is likely the duplicated title/description in the 1-month and 3-month product listing that's causing the issue.
Is there a way to make the inactive listings active again?
If Etsy has deactivated a listing, you can not reactivate it.
Only Etsy can.
And it is a supremely BAD idea to keep publishing items that Etsy has issues with.
From your listing: "Whether your focus is career, finances, relationships, or personal growth, this package equips you with the clarity and strategies needed to navigate life’s complexities with confidence."
From Etsy:
Metaphysical Services
Metaphysical services may not be sold on Etsy. Examples of prohibited metaphysical services include:
Could it be the issue?
I went through their page and did consider that this may be the cause.
But, I see a lot of other Astrology providers too.
It could be many things. A brief look through your shop you make mention repeatedly in your listings of "we" but do not state who is writing the reports. All shop members need to be listed in your shop.
It could be a tag used, things like 'healing' used in keywords and tags can get a listing deactivated. There's also that much of your item descriptions have been written using AI, and if you have not marked that you use AI, etsy bots can possibly pick up on that.
I just read and this "Whether it’s career, finances, relationships, or health," you're mentioning health, that may be picked up as you offering or suggesting your readings can heal or offer metaphysical outcomes.
Thank you for your kind assistance, greatly appreciate it!
I'll take a look at these possibilities and see what I can do to prevent this from happening again.
