Account verification - large sum frozen

Jump to solution

Hello!

the other day, I received an email for my first sale and that account verification will start. Once I entered the required data, all of my money were frozen. Can you, please, advise? I do not see the first sale in my account. When my money will be released? Was it a scam? Thank you!

Your shop is not showing any sales. This sounds like a common scam going around.

Did you receive a message saying you needed to enter your email to get verified? And then you magically got an email that looked like it was from etsy (FAKE) asking you to enter any financial information.

You say your money is frozen. Is that from your bank? They may have put a hold on it because of suspicious activity. Check with your bank. This scam gets you to enter financial information and then they steal from you!

Educate yourself on how etsy works. When you get a real sale, it will show up on your dashboard.

Complete the verification or you will not get any funds. That is all.

They have no funds to receive from Etsy.  No sales yet.  No money for Etsy to freeze.

Thank you for your reply. I am afraid that it was a scam and I lost the money.

Perhaps they are waiting for you to list the team members in your shop first. Your about section mentions "The Team" but I am not seeing the team members listed. Could be my browser as it sometimes doesnt load everything on etsy for some reason.

Shop has no money to receive.  No sales as yet.  Etsy is not holding money for information.

OP seems to have been hit with the latest scam.

If you do not see your sale in your seller dashboard, then it was a scam.

You have no sales, there is no money for etsy to hold.

If you gave your e-mail and card details to someone, and money has gone from your card or bank account,

that someone has scammed you, it is nothing to do with etsy

You need to report it to your bank/card provider
