Greetings--- My account was suspended by Etsy on Friday. They stste that your Taxpayer ID SS# is required for accounts with sales over $500. To date this year, I have sold 25 items for $470 per the Dash Board. I am reluctant to give these large corporations my SS# until required to do so, as they quite often get hacked. The IRS regulation says a 1099 is required once sales are over $600. I suppied the neccessary Friday afternoon....recieved a notice thanking me, and to check back in an hour for updates. A day and a half....and no reply, AND they are holding my seller monies hostage. Not very nice if you ask me. I'm just a retired fellow selling his college albums from over 40 years ago....sigh
I guess I'm confused because when I go to your shop, it doesn't look like it is closed, it simply has no listings. Did you remove all your listings because of this?
The revenue, in stats, does not include what you charged for shipping
the 1099K includes what you charged for shipping.
Whatever the limit is, then etsy will want it beforehand, it can't wait until you have a few sales bought in 1 lot, which pushes you over
I thought Etsy asked or my SS# when I signed up...didn't they?
I remember being asked for it once I hit a certain amount in sales; that was back in 2013.
Etsy required my SS# when I got started.
And then I switched it with my legal EIN when the IRS approved it.
This gave a level of security, protectionand comfort I was seeking.
My CPA is great about small business matters.
I hope it gets resolved soon.
We've all had to give Etsy, or other selling sites, our SS #, even if we didn't like it.
Don't blame Etsy for rules established by government.
Your shop is open, but with no listings- not sure if Etsy deactivated your listings, or if you did.
If Etsy did, and you supplied the necessary info, I hope your shop returns to normal soon.
Etsy can be maddeningly slow when a seller is waiting for action.
You gave the information over Friday afternoon. It's possible that the information was not verified by the end of business Friday and will wait until Monday until someone can verify it.
This is why Etsy asks for the information well before the $600 cut-off. It was your choice to wait until the last minute and Etsy suspended your account. Etsy is protecting their business and isn't going to risk issues with the IRS.
Give it some time, once Etsy has a chance to verify the information you provided it correct, they will reopen your shop.
@HerkamerTreasures What is the name of your shop that was suspended? It's the weekend. Hopefully you'll hear from them next week.
I am going through this same situation currently. I had uploaded my drivers license a week ago and that is still pending, and yesterday I had a big order that shot me over $500 so they delisted all of my items and suspended my shop. I put in a support ticket, got a response in 13 minutes but it was just cookie-cutter answers that I already knew and was no help at all. I then responded to that message and opened a new support ticket. The new support ticket got no response and says its "complete" and the other support ticket still has no response other than the initial one. This is crazy frustrating as I have people messaging me wanting to purchase items. Crossing my fingers this is resolved today. Good luck!
To note: I also entered my SSN yesterday right after they suspended my store and before I opened any tickets. It said "check back in an hour for verification" so I waited multiple hours and then opened the support ticket.
@designercory Don't open a new support ticket. That makes Etsy think the previous issue has been solved and puts you back at the end of the queue. Respond to any message from Etsy with "I still need help."
