I tried to log into my etsy sellers app and was notified my account was suspended. I logged in on the computer and sure enough it's true and no email from Etsy. No information on why or how to remedy the situation. I've spent so much money on etsy over the years, I've been such a loyal customer, and now I have funneled so much money into my shop over the last month and for what? A payment reserve and to be suspended all in the course of 24 hours with no explanation on either. I don't know if it's permanent or temporary. I don't know what I need to do to fix it. And when I tried to contact them they sent a form letter telling me they won't be contacting me. Etsy needs to be held responsible for what they're doing.

What were you selling? It says you are no longer selling on Etsy, which usually means a permanent shut down.
Not true. First of all, it says "currently not selling on Etsy" NOT "no longer selling on Etsy".
Also, the same wording was used when I was suspended for 24 hours (expired credit card, I was reinstated once I updated it). So it doesn't mean it's permanent.
@RadicalButtons1 If you visit the OP's shop and click on the seller's avatar, you'll get an uh oh page. The same if you click on the #sales. Those two uh oh pages, more often than not, means that Etsy shut the account.
I seem to remember you were selling tarot readings yes? Etsy doesn't typically allow them unless you are sending a tangible item like a pdf/text/photos of the reading, rather than just a phone/zoom call. The rules on that are here.
Since they allow you to send those via email I don't exactly know how they would enforce it (if that's the issue here). Keep contacting them; reply to the support email they sent you and say I still need help. They should at least have the decency to say why they closed you down. It could also be something like a credit card expiry or something like that. Don't take it personally, it's just their system - it's a mess and they don't care!
Was your payment account verified? I presume so as you have had sales and such.
Afraid I can't think of a reason as to why you were suspended unless you were not sending a file of the readings you were performing.
Have you logged an appeal? https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-gb/articles/6298920789271-How-to-File-an-Appeal-for-a-Permanently-Suspen...
@chaoticlunarwitch I'm guessing you violated their policy. If you're permanently suspended try filing an appeal.
Thanks everyone for your help.
To clarify I was sending a PDF of the readings I was doing, ususally 2-4 pages long. And a picture of the readings to go along with it. I checked my bank account online and my card is fine so it's not that either. And I still haven't received any email from Etsy explaining anything this morning. I never even got an email saying I was banned, like I said, I didn't know until I tried to login on the app. So I don't know what email I would respond to. I guess my next step is to file an appeal. But all the questions on the appeal process (I have looked it over) are about what business practices you will do differently and since Etsy hasn't told me which ones I've done wrong I don't know what to say. I'm at a loss. I guess this is just an unwelcome place for people like me.
@chaoticlunarwitch Etsy does not always send emails especially if the permanently suspend a shop.
What type of readings? If these readings violated Etsy's policies in any way that could be the reason. If they promised an outcome or included anything such as spells or divination that is on the prohibited list.
All you can do is contact Etsy support about the suspension.
@chaoticlunarwitch You won't get an email but I would do a search in the forums and see what everyone else in your position did and what the outcome was. Most likely it was violating one of their policies. Unfortunately, you'll see a lot of suspended accounts with no one receiving an email about what they did wrong. There's been a lot of payment reserves as well. E. is changing the way they do business but it doesn't mean you're not welcomed. You may want to read E's House Rules and Seller Handbook to help you further. Hope this helps you a little.
Hi - it happened to me once too. I opened my shop one morning to check it and do a little work and to my dismay it had been suspended. I had to file an appeal and they told me it had been an error. It was very stressful and came out of nowhere. The sale I had had the day before cancelled and asked for a refund (so I lost money). In any case, if you appeal write calmly and say in detail what happened. Mine was re-instated within a couple of days.
This one has all the earmarks of a final shutdown
1) won't show sales
2) uh oh page
3) Etsy's we're here to help
You can try calling them if this link will work:
The last thing you should do is take it personally - there's loooooooooooads of tarot readers and such here, Etsy is fine with it.
Yep, I tried to appeal and within twenty minutes they sent me an email telling me nothing was to be done. Their decision was final. I don't get it but I guess it's not for me to get.
Ugh I'm sorry to hear that. This place really does not give a crap about the people who fall through the cracks. -__-
if you were e-mailing pdf's, the listing was listed as physical, so how were you marking them as dispatched on time with tracking?
that...
is a very good question.
@chaoticlunarwitch Wow. Sorry to hear your shop is permanently suspended. Good luck in your future endeavors.
This exact same thing happened to me. I hoped a new shop, selling t-shirts and they suspended me after a few days without an email to say why. It's been 7 days now and I haven't heard anything from them after I contacted them.
I've been on Etsy since 2008 with my other shops. I'm so frustrated. The fact that you cannot even get a hold of someone is insane!
My shop is called TheLunarEmerald by the way.
I am posting from my other shop.
Regardless of the cause I agree with her- ETSY needs to respond with a reason for the actions and possible solutions. This type of heartless abandon from a company who tells its sellers to improve customer service is not acceptable. We sellers are not churn.
Same thing happened to me.
same problem with my account sellers need to take some action against these un professional sites.
