I just heard about these changes so I checked my shipping profiles.

This looked like a hot mess, but my solution was first to delete shipping profiles that I'm not using, mostly because Etsy has coerced me into using calculated shipping or not charging more than $5.99 for domestic shipping. Thanks Etsy. Not.

And then, for the other shipping profiles, I'm glancing at them (most of them appear to be SOLD items) and then changing each profile to ready-to-ship and 1-2 day processing time. This causes the listings in these profiles to be lumped into the profile with 900+ listings (I only have 50 active listings so I don't know why Etsy is changing shipping profiles on other listings?!). I will have ONE profile (with one listing) that has a longer processing time, but that's all.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

Watch out when making new listings. I copied a made to order 3-5 day listing. I changed title, description, photo. New one was "ready to ship" 1-2 days (which it created for this). Copy should copy everything.

Edit: and just got a note on my home page: add processing times to variations. That's a good idea and likely the reason for the change.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

Once I figured out a strategy (which took maybe 10 minutes), it only took me about 5 minutes to clean up the mess.

When you're done, the column labeled "Active Listings" in your list of Shipping Profiles should total the number of actual active listings (never mind that there was probably a number in the hundreds or thousands according to Etsy ... those were the sold / sold out listings!).

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

I’m just not quite figuring this out yet. Should my processing profile and shipping profile match? They seem like the same thing to me, and I’ve always used the shipping profiles to manage my listings as far as what was ready to ship (1-3 days) and what needed a few days to make before shipping (3-5 days). Any insight would be appreciated as to the difference between the two

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

@KathiesCrochetShop If Etsy gave you a list of Shipping Profiles (which may include some that you already had), work with those.

I needed to choose "Ready to Ship" or "Made to Order" for each profile. I also needed to choose the processing time for each profile.

Does this help?

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

They used to be tied to the same thing. Now you can have separate processing profiles with the same shipping profiles. Maybe you have widget A that is ready to ship in 1-2 days with $5 shipping. Then widget B is made to order 3-5 days with the same $5 shipping profile.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

So if I have a listing that is ready to ship tomorrow, and my processing profile is 1-3 days, and my shipping profile is 1-3 days, does it add those two together and look like I’m only shipping in 2-6 days? I’ve always used the 1-3 day shipping profile for things that ship the next day, just in case something would happen and I would be unable to ship it within a day.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

When it first popped up it said something about going live on the 27th. Since I went through and changed everything my shipping profiles no longer have processing times.

It should use one or the other.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

New tools and updates are great, but they should not take it upon themselves to randomly apply them to every shop and every listing. I suppose they would say we signed consent for this when we opened our shop but this is getting more ridiculous every day. My first red flag on this new processing times change was I noticed Etsy had applied it to 1630 listings... but I currently do not have near that many active listings. I guess like OP said, they must be applying them to old sold out listings. I'm so tired of Etsy and their bots making changes to my shop. (insert other colorful words of your choice).

It says "Add, edit, or apply processing profiles to listings in bulk" I can only open it to see a bunch of random listings (many sold years ago!) and the only thing that is editable is the number of processing days at the top drop down menu that affects all listing Etsy lumped into that processing profile. Other than that, are we expected to make changes on each individual listing?!

I don't have the patience for this

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

@WhimsicalMix This is where I'm at now! It shows that Etsy applied their "fix" to 915 listings. I only have 49 active listings right now.

I posted earlier (which is actually below this) that I'd deleted 16 verrrry old listings (from 2008); I know I'll never sell THOSE items again and, even if I did, I'd just create a new listing.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

Jeez... I changed processing to 3-5 days last Friday, orders to be dispatched on Tuesday the day after Bank Holiday Monday! So weekends is included and I'm set Monday to Friday.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

@AzanaPhotoFrames Do you ever ship on weekends? Etsy said (awhile ago, i.e., probably last year) that if we shipped on the weekend, they reserved the right to change our shipping to include weekends.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

I'm trying to make the number of listings in the Processing profile match the number of listings in the Shipping profile.

I went to my shop manager and deleted 16 verrrry old listings (from 2008!). I'm waiting for the number on the Processing profile to update. Does anyone know how long this takes? My "ready to ship in 1-2 days" profile is showing 915 listings. After the deletions, it should be 899. Or will it always show 915, since that's the number it was applied to?

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

This is so confusing!  I went in yesterday to extend my shipping dates due to being out of town for a bit.  I've always done it this way rather than putting my shop on vacation.

I set the processing time to 2 weeks, as I couldn't put it at 10 days.  I thought all was well, but I got an order and on it states "ship by the 27th".

On the listing page itself it says "get this order fast- by May 28-June whatever".  (I put a notice of my absence on my shop notice, in the description, and also on a photo in the listing photos).

So now I have to make sure for each order that these buyers understand that the order will not ship by the date stated?  I saw a thread where someone contacted Etsy and they told them to do this.  This is really a dumb way to roll this out.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

@nealpottery Did you happen to receive that order before you changed your processing time to 2 weeks?

You can check the exact time the order went thru on the order. It's near the top of the order. Here's one I got on Friday:

Ordered 2:36pm, Fri, May 23, 2025

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

@PrairiePrimitives no, they all (3 orders) came in 6 hours plus after making the change.

I gave up & put the shop on vacation.  I'll try to take it off mid-week and see if my settings are correct at that time.

Can somebody tell me WTAF is going on? I can find no changes and no announcements anywhere in my listings or on my dashboard. Everything looks exactly the same.  If there is a change to anything I cannot find it!

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

@ThePurplePuppy Do you use the Seller App? I rarely do, but I had a pop-up there when I did use it (last night or this morning).

It's also on my dashboard on my laptop. Look for this:

New: Add processing times to variations!

I think Etsy is fixing to give labels for ready-to-ship items. Or, with my luck, there will be labels for made-to-order since Etsy likes to push the customizable aspect.

no, I only use a PC. However, I did finally find the darn thing--altho I had no alert anywhere-not on dashboard--nowhere---if I hadn't stumbled in here. I would not have known until disaster struck. Mine was a mess.

Some had made to order at 1-2 days and some had ready to ship at 3-4 weeks. i HOPE I have everything straightened out --or at least most!

@ThePurplePuppy Glad you found it! Sounds like the same person coded this that coded the Alt Txt fields which are more wacky than not.

While they were doing this, you think they could have updated the actual shipping to show Ground Advantage. It's been almost two years since the change.

Re: About the changes to Shipping Profiles

I have tried to update my processing times, I updated my listings so I’m supposed to have 2-4 days but every order that’s been purchased still only have 1 day processing time. It’s been like this for days now. According to my settings it’s all been updated correctly but clearly there’s a glitch?! I have to keep cancelling purchases now due to this. Anyone else?

@BoxedTreatUK

Yup! This is happening to me also.

Don't cancel those purchases--just go to the order and push out the "ship by" date. You can go out a full three weeks. (But only once--so make that count! I push out as far as possible!)

@BoxedTreatUK I think this change isn't going to take effect until tomorrow (May 27). Heard or, more likely, read that somewhere.
