I just heard about these changes so I checked my shipping profiles.
This looked like a hot mess, but my solution was first to delete shipping profiles that I'm not using, mostly because Etsy has coerced me into using calculated shipping or not charging more than $5.99 for domestic shipping. Thanks Etsy. Not.
And then, for the other shipping profiles, I'm glancing at them (most of them appear to be SOLD items) and then changing each profile to ready-to-ship and 1-2 day processing time. This causes the listings in these profiles to be lumped into the profile with 900+ listings (I only have 50 active listings so I don't know why Etsy is changing shipping profiles on other listings?!). I will have ONE profile (with one listing) that has a longer processing time, but that's all.
I just rushed over to the shipping profiles, thanks for the heads up
1 DAY! for made to order? The AI has obviously started on the wine early today!
I don't even DO "made to order" but Etsy saw fit to classify some of my listings that way too. Turns out those were sold out items, but it still doesn't explain why they'd classify them as "made to order" OR with only a 1-day processing time.
Just another Etsy time suck thrown at us on the eve of a 3 day holiday weekend!
They always do things like this on holidays...I think they believe we won't notice right away!!
@HouseofWhisperingFir Once I had a strategy (which took maybe 10 minutes to figure out), it only took me about 5 minutes to fix the mess. Hopefully yours will be as easy as mine were!
I was taken aback when I saw this change but have calmed down somewhat after investigating and wrapping my head around what Etsy has done.
They made processing time profiles (which was part of shipping profiles), a separate profile.
I edited mine (removing most that were created from sold out, expired and draft listings) and created the ones I am likely to use.
So now the shipping profiles don't include processing times.
The listings have a place to apply a shipping profile and a processing profile.
And the bulk edit options have an option to bulk edit both shipping profiles and processing profiles.
Other than it's a change w/o any prior notice and the blurb was more alarming than helpful, and the implementation date created an odd transition period ... I think it's going to be ok.
@PrairiePrimitives: "... I don't know why Etsy is changing shipping profiles on other listings ..." Probably for data consistency reasons. After all you could relist or duplicate a sold out or inactive item.
Yep, I sure will be relisting my OOAK handmade / vintage pieces....NOT
@timelapse I relist my OOAK items because I use sold listings for the same item which is just a wee bit different (i.e., my stuffed antique quilt hearts that are made from a different quilt).
I had no idea that these profile changes were happening. Upon looking at it all, so now instead of just clicking one setting which for me included both processing and shipping is now 2 clicks. Where did they come up with processing times for my items? Do I need to go into all items and make sure they haven't messed it up for my time frame?
@LoonMtEmbroidnCrafts I didn't know about this either, until seeing a Thread yesterday. Today Etsy has placed an Announcement (Shop Advisor) in our Dashboard.
Here is how I checked mine and I hope it helps you.
(To see how many listings are applied to Processing Profiles); I'll use mine as an example:
-Shop Manager > Settings > Shipping Settings
-Your Processing Profiles
-Ready to Ship (1-3 days)
-(Applied to 23 listings)
*Yesterday, it said, "Applied to 4 listings". I had to go in and apply the others. For some reason (my error), mine wasn't set for all of my listings, only the Sold Out ones.
I went into Listings, selected "Inactive", and did the following:
-Editing Options
-Processing Profile, and applied it.
Hope this helps. It took me a while to figure out what the devil I was doing:)
That’s exactly what I had to do
@LoonMtEmbroidnCrafts Look at the column labeled "Active Listings" in your shipping profile. Click on the number (one at a time, if you have multiple profiles). That will show you which listings are attached to that profile.
I'm assuming that nothing got messed up which would require me to look at / edit each individual listing.
How do I get rid of the settings for the sold items? Did you have to go into every listing to change it?
@LoonMtEmbroidnCrafts I know, I don't see the logic in having 2 separate Profiles: Processing and Shipping.
I went into Listings and selected "Sold Out" (Right Column), then applied the Processing Profile up at the top (Editing Options > Processing Profile). Hope this works for you.
@ChillwolfArt - Etsy...logical???
surely you jest!
@LoonMtEmbroidnCrafts Just ignore the sold listings. I started with 900ish listings in one of the profiles even though I only have 50 active listings right now.
As I moved things from the "WTF were they thinking profiles" (i.e., made to order with 1 day processing time), the number in the top profile (which is a profile I was already using) increased. That kinda confused me, but when I got done choosing the profiles I wanted my listings in, the numbers in the Active Listings column totalled 50. Don't have a clue what happened to all those sold listings; hopefully they're still in the system so I can copy them if needed.
Nothing like a stupid make work project for no reason.
You got that right!! This is ridiculous!! I can't find where to click for items that are sold out and there is no more processing time for them! I really don't understand the logic of having these 2 settings!!
It's somehow connected to those stupid prompts I get every time I ship faster than my 3-5 day processing time, asking me to check my processing times. Yes, Etsy, I know I shipped earlier. Yay me. Now leave me alone.
@EightMileVintage Just remember not to ship early TOOO often (when it involves shipping on a Saturday) or Etsy will decide that you work on weekends, and maybe even holidays, and change those settings automatically!!!
Mine were mostly correct except for 4 listings. All I did was click on edit and choose the correct profile.
Why oh why. I wouldn't even have known they were changing this if not for the forums. If they change our stuff they really need to notify us. What's so bad about having it in our shipping profiles? Thankfully my times were mostly right. But they had everything "ready to ship" when the majority is actually "made to order". At least they can be bulk done in listing manager.
@digitaldoodlebug Etsy had given me several new profiles that were "made to order" when I never do that!
