The listing tool on the desktop won't let me choose the correct decade for my listings. Unless I select 2020-2023, I get the orange bar message that says "Uh Oh, Something Went Wrong..." when I hit the Publish button. The only way to get around this is to use the incorrect time period.
OP, if you are selling vintage items, they must be 20 years old or older to qualify for sale on Etsy. If your items are newer, such as 2020, you must choose a different marketplace such as Ebay or Poshmark or Mercari. Handmade by you entirely or craft supplies have different rules.
You will get this error when you try to list something that is "vintage" and it is not 20 years old. The only things you can list 2020-2023 would be something handmade or supplies.
Please do not try to lie on the forms to "get around" the rules. If this is a new item you are wanting to sell and it is not handmade or supplies list it elsewhere, like eBay.
@ThePurplePuppy, you mean do NOT try to lie to get around the rules. Just a typo, I think. How's your weather? 34 degrees here.
Can you submit it with the wrong date and then go in to Edit it.
I'm guessing your items are vintage, are you selecting vintage first?
If s/he is listing it as "vintage", by Etsy TOU it must be 20 years old or older.
I don't think I would try to skirt around the Etsy rules.
@ThePurplePuppy I wasn't suggesting she skirt around the rules I suggested that if it was a glitch.
It's now 2020 - 2024.
If it's still showing 2020 - 2023 that could be why it's glitching.
I see the updated dates in both new and old listing format.
I think it is "glitching" because the OP sells vintage and those dates do not qualify! IMPO it is NOT glitching at all--it working as designed.
Everyone seems to have read the OP differently to me.
It says:
"Unless I select 2020-2023, I get the orange bar message that says "Uh Oh, Something Went Wrong..." "
Which I read as, they can't pick the correct vintage date because it errors. It only doesn't error when they select 2020 - 2023.
So...dunno.
Tiyr items are vintage> The latest date you can have is 2005. You cannot post anything that has a range over 2005 for vintage.
If you are doing 2020-2024 that has to be a handmade item.
@dinosaurdrygoods OP, did you mean that you don't see the other dates at all. Then you need to clean out cache and cookies and reboot your computer.
I agree with @CappuccinoLace I think everyone is reading this wrong.
"Unless I select 2020-2023, I get the orange bar message that says "Uh Oh, Something Went Wrong..."
Another way to translate this...they only way she can get the item to list is to choose 2020-2023.
In retrospect I think you are correct! It is a glitch.
Since you have almost 5000 sales (congratulations!), it is likely a glitch.
Are you able to try a different browser?
@dinosaurdrygoods did you get this figured out? Maybe you just need to close the browser and start a new session. Otherwise, I would try copying an existing listing and see if that helps. You can then edit it as necessary.
It seems to have been fixed. For those of you who thought I was trying to sell new clothes on Etsy....no....I was listing them on my Pattern site where they are allowed. In fact, I turn people in for listing non-vintage Flax all the time. Lol. Don't jump to nasty conclusions.
