I had a new pop up in my messages about using the AI writing tool. Since I don't want AI anywhere near my business, I clicked the X. The conversation box where I needed to type in my message immediately changed to one that said AI assistant. I clicked out of it, just to have the pop up window appear again. The pop up window blocks half the message text box so you can not see what you are typing in. I finally typed in my message without clicking the X to remove the "use the new AI writing tool" message and sent it to my customer without being able to review my message. Please disable this so that when you click no, it goes away.
How do you turn this stupid AI writing assistant off? I am not able to communicate with my customers at all because of the BS messages that AI is trying to send
Try leaving the message section and go to another section, then back to your message to complete it as @YinVivoWeddings suggested upthread.
Or try refreshing the page. It appears that both of those things have worked for some people.
This feature not being optional is infuriating.
Please don't make me search AI to find out how to disable AI.

Ran into the same thing, along with the new boxes on the dash to tell me I have messages to answer that are already answered. And listings to renew that I don't currently want to renew. At least there was an option to give that a thumbs down, and explain why. While I was at it, I told them what I thought about the AI writing assistant. Problem is, it will probably be read by AI....
I am having this exact same issue. I do NOT want to use AI to reply to my customers. My customers come for handmade items and contact with an actual person. Using AI defeats that entire purpose, not to mention the environmental and ethical drawbacks to AI.
Sometimes I get the feeling that companies invest a lot of money into AI and want to make sure the investment is worth it, so they force the thing on their unwilling customers. I have had this problem other places too. It is exasperating.
I came here this morning for this exact issue. I'm all for allowing tools, but don't force us to use them. I think part of what my customers appreciate is that they're dealing with a REAL PERSON, NOT a bot!!!
I agree, can't write a response without AI taking over. I DON'T want AI writing my responses and I can't turn the dadgum thing off. Any suggestions?
My shop is also on the list of guinea pigs. I couldn't get out of the endless AI loop of responses. Since it was regarding an existing order, I clicked on the Message in the actual order and was able to create a human response. I will try the other suggestions the next time it happens. I don't appreciate having this, along with AI generated titles, forced on my shop.

Yeah this new AI features completely sucks. Every day this platform inches closer to looking like Temu or AliExpress.

I kept Xing out the blue popup, but when I did that, none of my saved quick replies were at the bottom! I went back & forth a few times before moving out of messages. So thankfully refreshing got rid of the popup. But knowing Etsy, that thing will keep popping up in the future. I wonder if this new Ai tool is why they HID our saved messages under an icon/new click?
