5 star reviews when you have a digital shop.

Does anyone else with a digital shop find it COMPLETELY unfair that we are at the mercy of customers reviews that are JUST starting out and do not know how to use their machines or software? I am constantly getting one star reviews because they dont know how to work Design Space or people not reading their heat transfer boxes and being angry that their images were backwards when they ironed it or that their office printer did not print the white parts (Standard printers do not print white). I'll take the bad review if it is MY fault, but if it a result of their Cricut acting up, why can't we challenge that the fault is outside of our abilities to fix? I have information on all of this plus instructions listed in a listing photo, the description, the message to Digital Buyers plus a youtube video is linked that I made to help and no one bothers to look at any of that either.

Just comes with the territory. Peoples’ technical savvy follows a bell curve and we have to take the good with the “challenged.” I’ve had customers who could not figure out how to open a JPEG, much less actually print it.

I went back 10 pages of reviews and only saw the one '1 star' review.

You helped - the help was unwanted.  Not much else you can do. 

Be kind, they might be having a bad day in which case everyone in their path is fodder until brighter days.

You could reply with "well maybe you need a new cutting blade and mat.  Maybe then your cutouts wouldnt be jagged" hahahaha no don't.  But I would want to say something so bad.  Lol.  People are just ridiculous.

Did you read it?! You are my TWIN because I said the SAME thing. To myself, of course. I'm a good little doormat. Five minutes after she left that I cut it out and it was fine. And its easier to leave a bad review and then run away because I've messaged her twice and she's ignoring me. I'll respond publicly because I don't want people to think the design is jacked up, but these people test the Christian in me.

Hahaha!  Yes!  I read it.  Absolutely ridiculous.  You could always leave a polite and professional response that you tried getting in touch with her to help her.  Someone who is hot to leave a 1 star review is not likely to change it anyway.  They mad.  They probably tapped that 1 star with attitude.  Hahaha.

I'm going to :). A very Rebecca of Sunny Brook Farms Response of "It IS possible for equipment to mess up". And I imagine next time she goes to cut on her machine and it still cuts jagged she'll still blame me.

It is a common problem. One thing I wish they made more clear to buyers is that you cannot use the Etsy mobile app to download, you have to use a web browser.

I buy a LOT of digital items and while I think I'm probably one of the few who even glances at the seller's reviews,  I can spot a machine problem a mile away and discount it.   I know that doesn't help with the SSP or stars showing but it might make you feel better.   :  )

I appreciate that. After basically telling me to F off, she sent me an image of the design on the mat ready to cut where it was SUPER obviously jagged. I've seen that once before and it was Design Space having a glitch. But hey, crying is fun too;)

Well, it comes with the territory. People who ship get blamed for things out of their control too (but not in a way that falls under review removal). All we can do is manage it the best way possible. If said reviews scares a newbie into not buying then maybe that's for the better. If they know what they're doing they may see it was something the buyer did.

I too have detailed instructions, even a video walk through. I would say at least half the people that contact me for help haven't even dowloaded the "instructions" file. 99% of the time it's something I cover that wasn't read or followed. 

Actually you have a really low rate of low reviews. My poor editable files get hit left and right.

My digitals are printed with a computer printer.  I got this one star review. "I ran out of ink never downloaded I never order anything from any of you!" Order says  it was downloaded.

Well it' one reason I've given up on digitals because it is a hassle if the item has not been tested on every version of any machine be it Cricut or another.  I've never blamed a seller or written a poor review because I knew my skills were not the best but I have struggled with ones that turned out the item did not work well with my machine.  Yep I was frustrated because I spent time over something that was not my fault.

So the shoe can be on both feet or either.  I would not be so quick to blame the buyer.  But then I've been the buyer in the past from other shops so I am biased some.

I used a silhouette before and was able to import and convert svgs no problem. However I disliked the machine itself and the basic idea of cutting mats  
Seems you had a bunch of cuts it was too sticky. Then maybe 2 projects it was juuuust right. Then it goes to not sticky enough. Plus every now and then the mat would move while cutting and it would get messed up. Don't know how some people have the patience for them.

I've had worse ^_^ I have had a few customers who bought a design from me and said 1 week later why my purchase still hasn't reached me. Lol.. I wonder where else can I write that these are only digital downloads?
