I read all discussion on this topic with last post in August 2023. I really need help fixing this issue! The error message only happens on my desktop, but does not happen on my phone????
I haven’t tried it on my iPad yet. If it is an internet provider issue, why is it happening to one device and not anothe4?
??????? Help!
What are you trying to do?
Are you using a VPN on your desktop? From memory I think that is one reason you may get that error message, and it can suddenly happen even if it was working fine earlier that day. If you are using a VPN then either turn it off, or switch to another server. I used to get this and sometimes I had to try several servers to get one that would let me refresh the Etsy page.
@DesignedbyJeanie: According to Etsy "If you see a message that says “429 error: too many requests,” it may be because you’re using an internet service provider that Etsy isn’t familiar with, or your provider may be blocking the site." https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015654428-How-to-Resolve-a-Technical-Issue
This often means they are blocking a suspicious IP address or a VPN. Your phone may be using a different IP address to access Etsy than your other devices.
I just had this for the first time today, so I rebooted my computer and message is gone now.
Yes, I had it a couple hours ago on attempting to get on Etsy.com or Etsy forums through Google. I turned my iPad off and on again, so it seems to be ok.
I wondered if it was the site telling me to stop obsessing about nothing happening in my shop. Yikes.
I had it happen earlier this afternoon, while trying to look at my messages. First time ever this happened.
I re-started the computer and it was gone.
Windows 10, laptop
I got the 429 error as well, but its resolved now after signing out and back in. Etsy was also reporting "checkout issue" on the site status page. It could be related
