This has been a known issue since August 2022.
I reported it again two other times with one being in November 2022.
4 more orders in the past 10 Days with the Personalization cut off after ONE WORD.
I tell these customers to contact Etsy when they receive an item upset due to writing one thing, submitting an order, not double checking their receipt and receiving something they didn't want but IS CORRECT based on the order. I do ask them if they have an outdated app. Some purchased via an app and some on the computer (they say). I tell them they should request a refund from Etsy directly due to the bug and provide them with links to the forum where this bug has been reported.
It is not the shop's fault when Etsy has a bug and customers always blame the shop. This can be very stressful for a customer and a shop owner.

This is still an ongoing issue. In the past week I had 3 more orders come in with the personalization cut off. This does not have to do with a maximum number of words because only ONE WORD is being submitted.
I'm going to continue to have customers reach out to Etsy indicating they are experiencing this issue and request some compensation for the stress it is causing them. It is VERY PROBLEMATIC when a customer is placing a last second wedding order, needed in 5 days, I make it in 1, it has 3 days transit and arrives on the day they need it. They open the package and it is not what they wanted. "Lee" is on the item. It matches the order. However, the customer wanted "Lee and Johnathan September 10, 2023".
I do not need "workaround" suggestions from fellow shop owners. We pay enough to have a functioning system and this is a bug that is over a year old now that is being ignored. Fix this.
I've had it happen too. It's usually pretty obvious and I'll ask if it seems like there should be more information.
One was only a single name but they had also entered "sharing this day with us" Us implies more than 1 so I asked and sure enough, they said they had entered everything correctly.
I've only had it happen a few times this year but last year it was quite a few.
I'm with you on proofs. I do not send one unless asked. I don't charge for a proof but I do find they are a hassle and it throws off my work flow.
