20mb Digital Downloads

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me the logic behind the 5x 20mb file size restriction for digital downloads...when in the same listing you can upload a single 100mb video to promote the listing?

I sell Master Dice and want to add STL file downloads to my store so that people can 3D print at home, the smallest of these files is around 30mb once zipped. The files can't be split into smaller files and uploaded in parts. I also don't want to manually email or provide (easily shareable) links to my files, the attraction of doing this is the automation. The total 100mb would be more than enough for each listing but it split into 5ths is a nightmare!

Does anyone have a neat solution to my problem?

@TiefsThings: This is a seller peer to peer forum, and should not be considered a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes read and reply to posts). As to the "logic" behind any choices Etsy makes, well those qualify as the great mysteries of the universe. Since the limits are set by Etsy on their servers there really can be no user solution other than breaking up the files or perhaps compressing them.

I would upload your CAD files to Dropbox (or similar file sharing site) and then make the downloadable file a PDF that contains download instructions and a clickable link to the files.

It's not great but I think its a workable solution with no extra work required once set up. You would need to explain how it works in the listing description though otherwise buyers might be confused by the file type.
