As far as I can make out, this promotion was targeted to a specific group of users, but was shared by some on social media. If you were not in the original group who were invited BY ETSY to use the code, you are not entitled to use it and it will not work for you. Some were able to make it work before Etsy became aware that it had been shared, but current reports show that those who used it from a FB share are now losing the freebies, while those who were legitimately entitled to use it are seeing them initially removed, but then returned.. Basically, if Etsy didn't send you the code you can't use it.
