Promotion- what works best?

Just curious what others have found...

Do you see more of a following from Facebook, a blog, Twitter, or something else? I think for me, many have come from my blog (I use Tumblr) and the reblog feature helps a lot.

What about you?

Re: Promotion- what works best?

RT's on Twitter or Tumblr are huge! Also, blog sponsors / giveaways really help get the word out about your store.

I struggle to get a ton of shares from Facebook because my pages audience there is still a bit small.

Nice to see contests mentioned. What sort of contests are you running and on what platforms have you had success?

Re: Promotion- what works best?

I sent a necklace to one of my favorite bloggers and she hosted a giveaway - the winner was able to chose any item from my shop. It was very successful with over 100 entries.

I've tried running a similar giveaway on my blog and it wasn't as successful because my following isn't as large.

I want to do one on twitter/tumblr/facebook where shares or RTs are how you are entered to win.

Re: Promotion- what works best?

I've found that contests on tumblr with reblogs as entries has the largest impact. Making twitter RTs and Facebook shares helps, but I've seen the most results from tumblr.

Also- Liz, yes! Reaching out to fashion bloggers and having them feature your products is awesome. I'd much rather have a feature than pay for an ad on their page.

Re: Promotion- what works best?

I haven't used tumbler but do use pintrest and my etsy seems to be doing okay (could be better) but I need to get the word out there without spending to do it. If anyone wants to promote on my fb page go ahead: it's https://www.facebook.com/FallopianRhapsodyUpscaleThrift
Like me and post away. I was also thinking of a business card or brochure exchange where one person sends the other a business card, they post it on a community board (a physical one) take a pic and post it etc., etc., I suppose I should definetly check out tumbler :)

Does everyone have a Pinterest account and have you seen any uptick in sales from using Pinterest?

Re: Promotion- what works best?

I use pinterest for my shop here on Etsy (don't have one on Shopenvy yet) and pinterest always shows up in shop stats - so it's definately bringing in some traffic. Not a ton - but you never know who's looking at your stuff and buying it. The more people who you parade through - the better chance of a sale!

I'm gonna have to sign up for tumblr. I also use stumbleupon (easy tool bar that installs at the top of the page so I can post all my listings with them using the tool bar - very convenient). They usually rank 3 in traffic sources in shop stats - after Etsy search engine (# 1 of course, and then Twitter is always 2).

Re: Promotion- what works best?

Yes! Pinterest has been huge for driving traffic! I pin newly listed items on my personal Pinterest account and some items get dozens of repins.

Re: Promotion- what works best?

I have a Pinterest account but I haven't seen any traffic from it at all. I'm the only person who has pinned any of my items and I've only pinned about 3 as I don't want to breach Pinterest's suggested etiquette of not self-promoting too much.
I also haven't really used Pinterest much recently.

I wrote an article explaining how to add a PinIt button to your products in your Storenvy shop if anyone is interested in trying to increase their products' presence on Pinterest :

Re: Promotion- what works best?

Claire, thanks so much for the Pin button! LOVE it :) New to Storenvy, been on Etsy for a while and looking to expand. Here's some things I do:

-Connect with bloggers like has been said, this is especially great for my FB numbers as I don't have a blog myself, only an FB page
-Hosting giveaways on my FB page with my own product
-I host product reviews as a thanks to other vendors when I win something from a giveaway. They usually promote for me as well.
-Advertise on blogs this is nice because smaller bloggers will do it for free/product exchange and be willing to talk you up quite a bit
-Participate in other page's giveaways if they are at least twice as big as me. This has helped a lot.

Hope some of this helps a little :)

Re: Promotion- what works best?

I haven't had much traffic on Pintrest at all...I've only had one good friend repin my things. I'm trying to get the word out through FB with shares and such and am currently hosting a give away if I can reach 100 likes. All of my referrals it seems come from facebook, although I tweet, and tumble, and blog....I've been with Storenvy since february and still have yet to see any sales, same with etsy. I have a lot of feed back from FB that people LOVE my product but I guess not enough to buy it. I'm kinda getting really frustrated!
