Team meet?

I was wondering if anyone wanted to get together for a sort of team meet and greet and working on projects together. The craft even etsy is holding in August would be a good time to meet each other and create some crafty new items. :D

When in August is good for everyone? Monday afternoons, Thursday and Saturday evenings works for me because those are my husband's days off and he's the one who can drive.

Also, should we make this a sort of art trade thing? Bring things we're willing to trade with each other, as well as business cards any of us have.

A meet up sounds good. Is anyone interested in having an art center here in Omaha where people can meet up, have access to professional equipment, and make their best work while collaborating with other creative people?

Haven't been here for a long time, but thought I'd drop in and see if anything was going on in relation to the August 24 Etsy Craft Party. August 24 is a Friday, but I'd think anything on the 25th or 26th could "count". I don't expect that we'd have 25 RSVP's by August 12 to qualify for the free box of supplies from Michael's, so we shouldn't have to be on exactly the same date as everyone else.

I see Jan has already offered her house, but mine is available, too. As I talked about a few times last year, I've bought a house that has the entire second floor free for crafts and cats (if anyone has cat allergies, this wouldn't be the place). I also have a nice big dining room table as well as a sewing machine for anyone to use. -- I'm just north of downtown Omaha, on 20th Street between Grace and Burdette. (Although my house was built in 1900, it's right at the edge of a new housing development, so there aren't the safety concerns some people might have about coming to "north Omaha".)

Even if we don't use my house, I'd be willing to start the entry on the Etsy Craft Party page as soon as time and place is arranged.

I'd also be happy to host regular get-togethers. Even if just a few people wanted to come each time, it could still be fun and maybe even informative.

I work until 7pm on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri - I'm off on Wed, Sat, and Sun. I have eyesight issues driving after dark, especially to a location I'm not familiar with, but I'll try to work with whatever's decided.

I think bringing materials from our "stashes" to share would be a great idea. I'm always meaning to get mine listed for sale in my shop, but I don't get it done very often.

I know for some it's a bit of a drive, but Elkhorn has CREATE (www.createandinspire.com), which is set up for just what you're talking about - equipment, messy place, even sewing machines. I am sure they'd love to have a group that regularly meets there.

Just checking in because it's two weeks until the date Etsy has scheduled for the big craft party. Anyone interested?

I could host on Friday evening (the actual date Etsy has set - August 24), Saturday afternoon or evening (August 25), or Sunday afternoon (August 26).

Any takers? I'd love to find out, because if company's coming I plan to order some goodies from Etsy sellers. If slutty brownies can't get people here, I don't know what can (and I've found some other great-looking treats, too)!

I live a little north of downtown Omaha in an old house that's right at the edge of a new housing development. Tons of space for crafting (that's one of the reasons I bought the house.) I do have two cats, so if anyone's allergic this is probably not the place to come - sorry.

I'll be watching here for replies, or you can convo me. If one time's better for you than another, let me know that, too, and we'll see what works out for the most people.

Seriously, though, having a local bakery goods seller is a great thing. Sometimes it's nice to not have to worry about a long shipping distance. Do you do local pickup or delivery?

I've just signed up on MeetUp with my address as the meeting place for the Omaha craft party at 7:00 pm Friday (August 24). I'd rather do Saturday, but Etsy made it kind of hard to change the date/time. Assuming I'd hear from anyone who plans to come, maybe it could be switched to Saturday, anyway.

I don't really have a problem with Friday, but the slutty brownies might not be here yet!

I think it's time to pull the plug on the August 24 Craft Party. Leann's the only one who's been interested, and no one has signed up on the MeetUp site. To be honest, I'm feeling under the weather and wouldn't mind not having to clean the house.

If I'm reading this wrong, and there is some interest, let me know. Because Etsy set up the time for the parties as 7:00 pm tonight (Friday), that's the time listed on the MeetUp site, but I'd really rather do it Saturday afternoon if there are people who want to.
