I am continuing to think of those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Phillipines. The death toll has risen dramatically. I wanted to let you know that World Vision has a special set up on their home page right now to help those affected by the storm. There is a box at the top of the page where you can make a donation in any amount to help the storm victims; World Vision is currently trying to bring clean water, food, and hygiene kits to those that have been displaced.
Also, the Phillipines is one country out of a few total countries that World Vision helps where the sponsored children needing help are not allowed to be posted online due to privacy laws or some other type of legal reason (sometimes it's just the photo that can't be posted). The children needing sponsors in those countries can usually only be found in the individual child packets Child Ambassadors physically carry around with them, but there ARE children in those countries that DO need your help.
Right now, in an effort to start helping so many of those children that have had their lives affected by Haiyan, World Vision also has a special page where you can sponsor children in the Phillipines. Click the "Learn More" link at the top of the page under the red headline about the storm and you will see at the bottom that there is another link to sponsor a child there. Due to the restrictions I mentioned in the paragraph above, the photos and more specific information (like birthdays, etc.) cannot be posted online. However, you can select a child to sponsor through more general info: You can choose a boy, girl, or select no preference for gender. You can also choose a specific age 1 year - 18 years old or choose no preference for age as well.
My heart goes out to these people and the devastation they are facing. You can help make a difference today.
