Re: Stonecutter Marching Along into Springtime

In case anyone here isn't on the aspiring thread and missed the post about the MAPP gas recall
UYS....i really don't want to freak anyone out but it was brought to my attention today that MAPP gas containers are being recalled. These are the taller ones....3 inches by 11 inches.....usually yellow in the states, maybe black some places and in Canada. Here are a couple of links.....

www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml12/12117.html

forums.dfoggknives.com/index.php?showtopic=22442&view=&hl=MAPP&from...

In the thread they are saying that places like Lowe's aren't even carrying it- guess anyone who uses this might need a temporary alternative.

Re: Stonecutter Marching Along into Springtime

Thanks Pennee for the update and the announcement. Scary when there is a recall on something flammable!

Hope everyone has been safe from the storms and having a wonderful weekend so far.

Re: Stonecutter Marching Along into Springtime

I'm shopping for a 4 X 4 so I can go look at my brother's claim this summer...
Sort of like a gardener looking at seed catalogues at this time, I suppose.

I understand, Peggy. Seems there is always so much to do around the house, and office, and studio, etc. :)

Re: Stonecutter Marching Along into Springtime

Hi Chrissi
I like your aztec piece...I am drawn to the rock art petroglyphs designs. Some are very crude and some are very complex. I photo them and use them for insperation... I really like the humanistic ones. I pull from them a lot...and when cutting my smaller cabs I find a few that have two eyes or orbs and save them for the head of my humanistic inspired pendants I build. I have a few of these stones now and need to get them built....But yours reminded me of this.......Good direction.

Re: Stonecutter Marching Along into Springtime

Thanks, Jim. I love that piece too. We have a great rock shop close-by, and I found a couple of those cabs there. I have another one that I need to make into something...but the inspiration hasn't quite struck yet. In due time.

I love carved stones, if they are done well.

Wow, Peggy. Nice! I miss playing. I used to play trumpet when I was younger (high school, college days). I still have my horn, and will pull it out every now and then. I've completely lost my lip :( I tell my hubby all the time if I ever even think about needing to plump up my lips, to just pull out my trumpet...that will do it!

Jim...do you ever list your cabs for sale? I have several friends who are really big into turquoise and varisite and might be interested in purchasing some if they were available.

Re: Stonecutter Marching Along into Springtime

I have two etsy sites so yes I have turquoise cabs for sale on one of them.
It is jamesdavidcabs.....Which I guess is who I just logged on as. I believe in direct marketing, to mix stone and jewelry would confuse people. But I mainly focus on eBay...sorry do not get mad. ETSY I have been with before for two years and during my move let it drop.....Now back on again..serious this time but will take time to develop. Most of my stones are on eBay but adding here every week.

Re: Stonecutter Marching Along into Springtime

Hi everyone!

I'm back from the netherworld of "way too much to do". Thanks for keeping the place going, Chrissi. :)

Just caught up on the other threads, too. Some good info there already.

Today is a personal day from work, and the first I'll be playing with rocks in almost 3 weeks. Argh, withdrawls!
