Re: So where are the stonecutters?

I haven't got much experience with opal.

Anyone on the team care to give this one a try?!!

Re: So where are the stonecutters?

A while back I purchased an agate from Lance Shope (MainleyAgates) that he posted here in this thread. I finally got around to creating a pendant for it:

Re: So where are the stonecutters?

I think it's hard for lapidary workers to showcase their work on Etsy and to stand out. I've been a full time lapidary for 22 years. I do cabs, but my focus is on unusual focal beads. https://www.etsy.com/listing/167199321/dvh-93ct-rare-black-lightning-moonstone?ref=shop_home_active_...

Designer cut cab of Purpurite from Namibia Africa.
This is a magnesium mineral. Most often sold as a mineral specimen.
It probably would become more used in the jewelry industry if it wasn’t quite so rare.
It has very metallic sheen I would call it a purple /pink in color that needs to be orientated to get the full affect.

Re: So where are the stonecutters?

Hello to all, I just recently joined this team. I am into cabbing and also gold and silver work, both casting and fabrication. I opened my store about 2 months ago and been busy trying to fill it. This is my first attempt at selling on line and how much time is involved, I had no idea. It's been quite a learning experience.

Re: So where are the stonecutters?

Hey Folks, David V. Horste from Portland, Oregon here. I started lapidary work in 1976 as a 10 year old kid in the rock club back in Jackson, Michigan. I've been a full time lapidary for 22 years.

Here is a piece I call a "Petrified Dinosaur Bone Biopsy". The cells in the dino bone were replaced by clear chalcedony so I sliced it REAL thin, backed it with a big flat mother of pearl bead, and cut and polished it even thinner. The light goes through the cells and bounces off the MOP.

Have a great week! Regards, David at DVHdesigns
